Sights and sounds recorded during my visits to my favorite zoo.

I love zoos, especially the Philadelphia Zoo. And I truly believe zoo animals do have good lives - in some cases better than nature provides.

My videos show the essence of zoos: the animals. Zoos are places where people can go to safely observe, and learn by observing, wildlife they wouldn't otherwise be able to see.

Most zoo visitors, at least frequent visitors, will feel a connection with the animals. As a result, they will want to learn more about the individual animals in the Zoo and about their relatives in the wild.

Some visitors will be inspired to make changes in their lifestyle to help save endangered animals. Others will want to become involved with wildlife conservation efforts.

Others will want to learn more about animal behavior, and about animal adaptation, both in the wild and in captivity.

Zoos are entertaining, it's true. And most are very much involved with ex situ conservation efforts. But I don't believe that's what makes them special, unique and valuable. What makes zoos wonderful and necessary is the opportunity they provide to all of us to connect with individual wild animals.

The Philadelphia Zoo is a great zoo and has been my favorite zoo for many years.

I hope everyone who sees these videos will want to visit the Zoo and observe all these fascinating animals in real life.
