My friends and peers,
This is the Average American Project. I've grown tired of the phrase "average American" being followed by an inaccurate criticism or incomplete summary. We are capable of more and we deserve to be listened to more attentively by our representatives.
About Me:

For most of this year I have been increasingly concerned about the way the campaigns for President of the United States have been going. There seems to be quite a bit of sound and fury (particularly now, with Steven Colbert's joking announcement of his candidacy in South Carolina).

Candidates who promise campaign finance reform while raising millions of dollars are, in my opinion, unlikely to make any alteration to the system.
To date, my wife and I have spent less than $300 on this campaign - and we're not taking any donations apart from the time of volunteers.
Country:
United States
Hobbies:
When I am not directly involved with an aspect of the campaign, I am spending my time making art. I don't want to say more about it here as this isn't about my sculpture or drawing.
Music:
I'm looking for a campaign song. I think it will probably come from an unsigned artist.

Since i learned of write in votes in 9th grade, I have always wondered if it would work. Our country is so much bigger than 13 colonies and there are so many people voting. You definitely have my vote, thinking back on all the votes I've made that can be considered wasted, I think this one will be the best placed vote I ever make, no matter what happens in the end. Best of luck to you!

At this point — in a campaign like this — providing even a "snowball's" chance depends (among other things) on getting viewership of this and subsequent videos to a much higher level.

Thank you for the second comment. Even if I don't earn you vote, please keep watching.

Man, if you have a snowballs chance, I'd vote for you. I think you are the first candidate I can ever recall... ever... saying that the issue with the nations military failures is because of lawyers and not generals. This is one of the biggest sources of my concern for the future of this country(that and the media reporting on war, but the lawyers are more important).

Marxman3, I am not in any way offended by your comment and I want to use it as an opportunity to point out that I'm keeping my videos short. I hope, as there are more of them, that the goals for the future become more evident and clear.
In terms of the war on terror, the experts on strategy and tactics work at the Pentagon. Many of the soldiers with whom I have talked about this concern have told me that they feel our present government is relying more strongly on advice from lawyers than from generals. We need to see that stopped.

Thank you, Marxman3, I hope you to continue to watch and comment.

Yours sincerely,

Thom Truelove

No offense man, but you state that none of the current candidates have defined goals for the future or any of that stuff, but you haven't either. You have stated "we want to see our troops return home safely and victoriously" but thats just about as much as any of the other candidates have said(and in fact less, almost-pesident Giuliani has stated, for example, that he would like to increase the United States Army's size by 15 brigades).

I wish you luck on your campaign, but considering the current state of the Union and how these things tend to go, I dont think you will make it all the way to the top.

You sound like a nice, decent, honest, and all around
proper gentleman.Sadly that means you have no chance
for survival in the political cesspool that is our nations capital.
Your honesty would be deliberately turned and twisted by
both political parties and their willing accomplices in the
media. I take no joy in saying this however, facts are stubborn
things.

Hail, Mr. President!

Well, I guess I shouldn't "hail" you....not very democratic. I think this is a great thing you are doing; more people should act on their convictions in this way. Good luck to you!
