Ronzig was homeless for 10 years while waiting for his name to come up on the waiting list for affordable housing. Leading up to becoming homeless and throughout most of his homeless period, he suffered with substance abuse problems. On March 2, 2005 he swore off alcohol and drugs and has been clean and sober ever since. On October 1, 2005, after many long years on a waiting list for affordable housing, he moved into a rent geared to income apartment.

He enrolled in a part time studies course offered by the Toronto Board of Education, Continuing Education Program, "An Introduction to Digital Photography" in the spring of 2006. The experience was an awakening. Since taking that course, he has become obsessed with a desire to portray our city as he sees it.

He is rarely without his camera and typically will capture dozens of images each time he ventures out. He opens his artist eye to a broad range of subjects including architecture, people, events, and nature.

He calls his art form Digital photoArt, which is a marriage of photography and digital art that has evolved out of his exploration of several different computer programs which were designed for photographers and/or artists. He uses a dual monitor computer system so that he can move an image from one program to another until he has created the effect he seeks.
