Fractint truly has a great history! I think that it is true, that parallel processing, in general is the future. Especially for tasks, such as rendering the mandelbrot fractal, where each pixel can be done as a parallel thread (this is what the FastFractal256 program does). CUDA is based on C, but C++ is going to be in the Fermi chip to be released in 2010, there is some info on Fermi on Nvidia's webpage.

I am truly impressed with your work :) Well done!

Yes it would, and some people are now doing that. Unfortunately, I do not know C++ so can't do it. Maybe I should try to learn it .........

I bet things would go faster if you used an nvidia card that supported CUDA, they even have personal "super computers".

These are all made using FRACTINT program in DOS. Yes, DOS! Rendering is on hi-end P3 systems. Animation scripts are written in BASIC. That's right snobs - BASIC! Ya gotta problem wit dat?! The still frames generated by fractint are compiled to AVI with VideoMach, and then compressed to WMV format with Windows Media Encoder.
