WEEZER'S PORK AND BEANS VIDEO TO PREMIERE ON YOUTUBE

Video for "Pork and Beans" A Tribute To YouTube As A Cultural Phenomenon Features More Than 15 YouTube Stars Make Cameos

Today, Weezer unveiled the launch of their YouTube channel to coincide with the premier of the band’s new music video “Pork and Beans” on the homepage of YouTube. This is the first time a major label band has featured such a multitude of YouTube celebrities in their video, which include Tay Zonday (Chocolate Rain), Lauren Caitlin Upton (Junior Miss South Carolina), Judson Laipply (Evolution of Dance) being three of more than fifteen YouTube stars making cameos in the video. http://youtube.com/watch?v=muP9eH2p2PI

Additionally, the Weezer channel will feature an introduction from the band; behind-the-scenes clips from the “Pork and Beans” video shoot with YouTube personalities Tay Zonday and Liam Kyle Sullivan; archived videos; along with new content created for the YouTube community, which will be updated regularly. This is yet another way in which Weezer will be connecting with their fans.

“We're so glad that Weezer loves Numa Numa guy, Chris Crocker, Tay Zonday, mixing Mentos and Coke, surprised chipmunks, Evolution of Dance, Daft Punk Hands and all the others as much as we do," said Michele Flannery, Music Manager, YouTube. "We are always excited to see our favorite YouTubers enter the world of popular culture and the 'Pork and Beans' video is an great example of how well-recognized they have become.

The video directed by Mathew Cullen (R.E.M., Beck, Modest Mouse) from Motion Theory production directed the video. “It was mayhem making the video,” recalls Weezer guiartist Brian Bell, “we were performing with all these amazing YouTube celebrites, and I felt like I had walked into my own computer.”

Weezer’s latest album, Weezer, will be released by DGC/Interscope on June 3. The first single, the aforementioned “Pork and Beans” is currently the #1 single at Modern Rock Radio. A song of self-empowerment, “Pork and Beans” fits perfectly into YouTube’s ethos of everyone can be a star and championing ones individuality.

Weezer lead singer Rivers Cuomo is no stranger to YouTube, having launched an initiative called “Let’s Write A Sawng,” earlier this year where he asked fans to collaborate with writing a song with him. http://youtube.com/riverscuomoalone
