The Doni Tondo has always been a favorite of mine..... (the inexplicable nudes in the background too ! )
When the frescos in the Sistine Chapel were being restored, detractors and critics of the procedure were screaming that Michelangelo WANTED the dark, muddy colors. I wanted to wring their necks and say "Look at the Doni Tond !!!" It is so obvious Michelangelo loved bright, vibrant color. Beautiful Channel !!! |
