by MiceChat 2,804 views

• New (new-ish?) pig family decorations at Great Piggybank Adventure; most are animated cutouts
• Canopy of lights at San Francisco Street in Osborne is the big innovation this year; programmed and bright, it looks and acts like the Fremont St Experience in downtown Las Vegas.

WDW Update #15 - 10/24/11
by MiceChat 1,357 views
- New souvenir guide cover at Epcot
- The twitter feed is gone from the Epcot info board near the Fountain of Nations
- The F&W decorations in Germany's train set include a tiny cranberry bog!
- The wheel at the lagoon in Morocco is broken (and has been?) meaning there is no running water through the trough and into the gardens.
- Epcot was insanely busy -- about 72,000 in attendance for the day. This is New Year's Eve levels, folks! Some of it was due to Fall Break; others due to the first good weather in a while.
- At DHS, the Animation building has new signs at the entrance, explaining the sections of the building and showing a map. They've also configured the entrance to let you in more easily.
- Finally got to see the Pooh meet and greet, which uses video screens on the walls of the queue to give some interactivity to the 'book' words written on the walls. A neat effect.
- Penguins are STILL broken at MuppetVision, as are the 'explosion' projections on the rear panels
- Osborne installation almost done (early Nov is the target)
- Indy stunt show has a new sign out front (same design, just freshened colors)
- American Idol Experience gives out the 1,000th Dream Ticket to Sylvia Hercules (singing "I Will Survive")
- There is much Small World merch for sale suddenly, in the Mary Blair style (related to her 100th anniversary?)
- Mini Golf at Universal now has vertical construction taking shape
- Halloween Spooktacular at SeaWorld is again free (included with admission), with tons of candy given out, even if you're not dressed up. Adults can also collect candy.
- Saw Tillikum in the Shamu Rocks show (where they've also fixed the screen that has been broken for some time)

WDW Update #14 - 10/17/11
by MiceChat 1,303 views
• Legoland pictures (with special focus on Miniland zoom photos)
• New acrobats at the China pavilion in Epcot
• The Velcro exhibit is long gone; the rehab walls came down to reveal a sign saying "Story Time"... and that it will be exclusive for AAA members. I wonder what this is?
• The die press at the exit to Test Track was broken, unmoving, and silent. The whole room feels eerie without that loud clang.
• New columns at the exit to Epcot point the way to the turnstiles that are exclusively for going out (rather than coming in).

WDW Update #12 - 9/26/11
by MiceChat 2,115 views
• New names (and signage) for parking lot sections at the Transportation and Ticket Center. The sub-lots now combine for a big "heroes" lot and a big "villains" lot -- and each one has a dedicated tram
• Big tower outside PotC has speakers for Sorcerers game
• New railings outside Splash Mountain
• Crane is out installing castle Dreamlights
• Spotted: half-size ODV cart selling ice cream
• Splash Mtn final boat scene is fully fixed, even rocking back and forth
• Spotted: benches outside Mansion have always had "dogs" as handles on the end of the armrests... but the eyes are now painted red
• Spotted: new doll in the window outside Hall of Presidents. For Sorcerers?
• New dish: $11 salmon with couscous and broccoli, at Columbia Harbour House. Well worth the price.
• Osceola signs: all but one are fixed! (and the last one was being worked on late in the weekend; probably fixed now).
• Busch Gardens Tampa Howl-O-Scream: a rollickin good time, decent scare houses (6 of them), and one standout named "Alone" for a $40 upcharge (you can bring 3 others with you, so it's not truly alone). But the Alone house is not overrun with visitors; they only let groups go in every 5-10 minutes. Spectacular.
• At Howl-O-Scream, there are no scare zones -- everywhere is game! Instead, the scareactors roam in groups.
• The Midnight Hour show is campy fun with live singing (Obama, Palin, Sheen, Snookie as comic relief).
• The Fiends (naughty nurses) show is equally campy, more Monster Mash oriented.
• Construction photos of Universal mini golf. Still quite barren ground, some structures going up.
• Despicable Me signs are up at former Jimmy Neutron simulator
• Ripsaw Falls photo report: looking great!

WDW Update #11 - 9/19/11
by MiceChat 2,814 views
- Painted lines followed by trams at the TTC are now blue, not white (the world's smallest detail!)
- "Power Pack" kids meals for $5.49 (same price as regular kid meals) has five snacks plus milk, and no main entrée. A PB&J is thus "valued" at 3 snacks -- this is more than fair.
- Burrito-dog and pulled pork hot dog gourmet entrees ($8) at Fairfax Fare are flavorful and quite large, with a meaty hot dog.
- Toluca Legs turkey stand unoccupied; legs now on sale up at Fairfax Fare
- Giant billboard of Indy's face missing at the Stunt Adventure
- Characters are missing from the front of Toy Story Pizza Planet
- Osborne Lights are being installed overnight
- The LMA and Backlot tour area is dead, dead, dead at night. One hour before park closing, the shop and restaurant are closed and deserted. There is no soul anywhere.
- Narnia walkthrough is finally (mercifully?) closed
- On Great Movie Ride, the gangster car stays stuck in the 'out' position. The side alien stays standing up (instead of crouched down) until his moment comes.
- The Lion King flower and garden topiaries are at DAK to announce Lion King 3D release in theaters
- One side (the left) of Primeval Whirl has reopened. The other side is still boarded up.
- Baby siamang born last week (no cute photo, alas)
- Baby gorilla born a year ago is still small and cute
- A second covering for outdoor tables has appeared at Yak and Yeti outdoor dining
- Outdoor Foods (ODF) is now called Outdoor Vending (ODV) -- the same name Disneyland has used for decades
- Orange flags along Osceola Parkway mark where a new offramp will be built soon to get direct access to DHS from this street (they are planning to close the current back entrance)
- Peeling signs are worse than ever, but some have been replaced. I think.
- Mickey-Ghost (Mickey in a ghost costume, holding a pumpkin trick or treat basket) is on sale as a popcorn tin ($12) or as an actual trick or treat bucket.
- Park-specific souvenir mugs are at many stores now. $4.89.
- Restaurantosaurus has a Shrimp Po Boy ($10) on the menu now.
- Park-specific Birnbaum official guides are now on sale in many parks.
- Legoland preview from outside the main gates (photos)

by MiceChat 2,560 views

- Mansion's bypass queue has a NEW sign explaining the options

- Food and Wine construction now visible

- Test Track has a new car paint job on one vehicle; it's blue and includes a Chevy logo.
- "Assembly line" video behind Test Track robots in postshow is still turned off. It's been years now!

- The kids crawl house in Where's the Fire is behind walls
- The free ride your own Segway experience is no more, but the structure remains as a home base for their tours they sell
- No more mention of NASA on the final plants in Living with the Land. Lost sponsorship?

- The Narnia walkthrough at DSH was scheduled to close this weekend
- Signs on Osceola Blvd near All Stars are still horrible a week later.
- New menu items at Electric Umbrella (spicy bean flatbread), Cosmic Ray's (pizzaburger), Pecos Bill (Angus Cheeseburger), FairFax Fare near Fantasmic (gourmet hot dogs with weird flavors)

WDW Slideshow Update #2 - 6/27/11
by MiceChat 1,349 views
• Camp Minnie-Mickey was closed two hours early on Friday. Is this a trend?
• Harley-Davidson's new location is under construction at the West Side (near the Planet Hollywood side of AMC Theaters)
• "Cardboard" flowers from Flower and Garden Festival decorate one corner of Pleasure Island for no real reason
• Artist Shag was at DtD for a signing of his new WDW map
• Star Tours is advertised via A-frames at the TTC
• The Main St. Confectionary added awnings and a new sign
• Blizzard Beach trashcans -- no logos at all?
• The "icicles" at the pearl stand in Blizzard Beach are supposed to drip water constantly, to imply melting, but it was shut off.
• The bridge sprinklers are supposed to be on to cool off feet from the hot concrete, but they were off at 12pm. By 4pm they were on, but at such low volume that the effect was too localized.
• One leaping fountains play area in Tike's Peak is now shut off and there are beach chairs here instead. A definite decline.
• Several maintenance issues at BB: peeling vinyl on one side, incorrect signage out front (two different signs)
• The new DVC logo is the earth (with mouse ears). A bit generic
• Tree clearing is happening near DHS to prepare for new ramps onto World Drive -- this will soon be the ONLY entrance to DHS (the back one near Hess will be closed)
• At Innoventions West, the Rockin' Robots area (more recently: just benches) is again under tarps and rehab walls.
• At Journey into Imagination, the Kodak show has been replaced with a color wall (the colors move, but it's boring) and not much else.
• Captain EO looks great, but they need to station CMs at the exit to make sure kids don't climb in those dangerous rocks at the leaping fountains
• The Spirit of Norway post-show film is not operating. Lately they've kept the doors open for people to breeze through here, film running or not. Rumors say Norway wants a new movie -- maybe it's on the way? -

Monorail Spiel 2012-04-15
by MiceChat 5,634 views
The spiel for all Walt Disney World monorails changed in mid-April. This is a recording of the Magic Kingdom to TTC segment (Express line). Yes, the Jack Wagner "Please stand clear..." spiel is still there - this is all one recording, with silences snipped out.
