Tom D. Dillehay is internationally recognized for ground-breaking and highly interdisciplinary scientific research. He is the Rebecca Webb Wilson University Distinguished Professor of Anthropology, Religion and Culture at Vanderbilt University. Many of research projects are in South America where he focuses mainly on human migration and the resulting transformative processes that lead to political, economic, social and technological changes among populations. As a historical anthropologist, he is interested in human society and culture and how they adapt or fail to adapt to new circumstances. His work has been featured in numerous publications and broadcast programs, including National Geographic, Scientific American, Nova, Discover, BBC, History Channel, Discovery Channel, NPR, and many other news outlets. He has lived for several years in different countries in Latin America, has authored 18 books and more than 200 journal articles, and has been a visiting professor at numerous universities around the world. He has received numerous international and national awards for his research and teaching and is a member of the American Academy of Arts and Sciences.

Dr. Conn is the Lee E. Limbird Professor of Pharmacology, and founding Director of the Program in Translational Neuropharmacology and the Vanderbilt Center for Neuroscience Drug Discovery. Conn received the Ph.D. degree in Pharmacology from Vanderbilt University in 1986 and pursued postdoctoral studies in the Department of Pharmacology at Yale University. Dr. Conn joined the Department of Pharmacology at Emory University faculty in 1988 where he rose to the rank of Full Professor and established himself as a leader in studies of neurotransmitter receptors and their roles in regulating brain function in circuits involved in psychiatric and neurological disorders. In 2000, Dr. Conn moved to Merck and Company to assume the position of Senior Director and Head of the Department of Neuroscience at Merck's site in West Point, PA. He moved to Vanderbilt University to start a new program in drug discovery, with a primary mission of facilitating translation of recent advances in basic science to novel therapeutics.

Tom Weiler was born in St. Louis, grew up(wards) in the Black Hills of South Dakota, matured a bit more in Lincoln, Nebraska, and graduated from HS in Milwaukee, WI. He has a B.S. degree in physics from Stanford University, and a Ph.D. from U. Wisconsin in high-energy particle theory. Vowing never to be so cold again, he left the Northern US for England, Boston, California, and joined the faculty at Vanderbilt in 1984. In the Spring 2012 semester, he will teach a course titled "Meaning of Time, Possibility of Time Travel". Starting in the early 80s, he was among the pioneers in applying modern particle theory to astrophysics and cosmology. He has over a hundred refereed, published papers, on topics ranging from neutrino astrophysics to dark matter to faster-than-light particle travel. He is also a member of the international EUSO collaboration, with intent to place a downward-looking telescope on the Space Station to monitor extreme-energy cosmic rays when they strike enter our atmosphere. His awards include "Fellow of the American Physics Society", "Outstanding Wisconsin Physics Alumnus", and "Alexander Von Humboldt Senior Researcher Award". In 2009 he had the good fortune as a visitor to the Max Planck Institut in Munich, to be assigned to an office once held by Werner Heisenberg, famous for his co-invention of quantum mechanics. His new album The Wilderness is set to release in June, 2012, which he says, "...is like a group of Russian composers at an Irish pub in the wild wild west.

Meredith Perry is the Founder and CEO of uBeam, a company that hopes to bring space age wireless charging technology to your cell phone and other wireless devices. Meredith graduated from the University of Pennsylvania this past May after studying rocks, of all things. Her paleobiology degree was put to good use while researching astrobiology at NASA, landing her a position as a NASA student ambassador. But inventing turned out to be Meredith's passion, creating a device that won Penn's student invention competition and propelling her into the world of business and tech.
