Marking World Environment Day 2012

World Environment Day (WED) is an annual United Nations initiative - every June 5th - that is aimed at being a wide celebration of globally positive environmental action. The first WED took place in 1972 and has grown to become the one of the main vehicles through which the UN tries to stimulate worldwide awareness of the environment and encourages political attention and action.
