Damascus rocked by explosions amid ongoing Syrian violence

Explosions hit a busy junction in the al-Qazaz district of Damascus shortly before 8am on Thursday morning as children and commuters were on their way to school and work. The bombings, the deadliest in the Syrian capital since the revolt began, further shredded Kofi Annan's ceasefire, which has failed to halt bloodshed that has pitted Assad's security forces against peaceful demonstrators and an array of armed insurgents. Meanwhile, violence has continued to seen in towns across Syria - as refugees continue to pour across the country's borders.
