Rose Marie Jun "Sing Me A Song With Social Significance".m4v
by dominanefret 6,694 views
This is the song "Sing Me a Song With Social Significance", sung by Rose Marie Jun, from the 1962 revival cast of Pins and Needles.
Pins and Needles is a Broadway revue, written originally in 1937s. The revue was written, sponsored, and performed by the International Ladies Garment Workers Union, who held their union meetings at the Princess theater in New York City.
The cast members all had full time factory jobs in the garment industry, and thus could only rehearse during the night and on the weekends.
Pins and Needles used its voice to air strong pro-Union opinions, incorporating current events from its time. The show features light hearted and clever use of satire and spoof to poke fun of such things fascist dictators in Europe and snooty American bigots.
The American theatre historian and writer John Kenrick said of the show Pins and Needles "is the only hit ever produced by a labor union, and the only time when a group of unknown non-professionals brought a successful musical to Broadway."
I discovered this song while flipping through radio stations during a long road trip. An adorable man was hosting a show playing tunes from old revues and musicals that no one has ever heard of, or have been forgotten about, and enthusiastically explaining their history. He played this song, as well as "Doing The Reactionary" and "One Big Union For Two". I immediately fell in love and searched for them as soon as I got to my destination. Needing to share this song with my community, I created this video for all of you. -

Pink Floyd -- Another Brick In the Wall :: Lyrics :: We don't need no education.
We don't need no thought control.
No dark sarcasm in the classroom.
Teacher, leave those kids alone.
Hey, Teacher, leave those kids alone!
All in all it's just another brick in the wall.
All in all you're just another brick in the wall.
We don't need no education.
We don't need no thought control.
No dark sarcasm in the classroom.
Teachers, leave those kids alone.

Victor Jara Manifiesto
by yecolennon 1,619,100 views
Yo no canto por cantar
ni por tener buena voz
canto porque la guitarra
tiene sentido y razon,
tiene corazon de tierra
y alas de palomita,
es como el agua bendita
santigua glorias y penas,
aqui se encajo mi canto
como dijera Violeta
guitarra trabajadora
con olor a primavera.
Que no es guitarra de ricos
ni cosa que se parezca
mi canto es de los andamios
para alcanzar las estrellas,
que el canto tiene sentido
cuando palpita en las venas
del que morira cantando
las verdades verdaderas,
no las lisonjas fugaces
ni las famas extranjeras
sino el canto de una alondra
hasta el fondo de la tierra.
Ahi donde llega todo
y donde todo comienza
canto que ha sido valiente
siempre sera cancion nueva. -

LYRICS:
One Love! One Heart!
Let's get together and feel all right.
Hear the children cryin' (One Love!);
Hear the children cryin' (One Heart!),
Sayin': give thanks and praise to the Lord and I will feel all right;
Sayin': let's get together and feel all right. Wo wo-wo wo-wo!
Let them all pass all their dirty remarks (One Love!);
There is one question I'd really love to ask (One Heart!):
Is there a place for the hopeless sinner,
Who has hurt all mankind just to save his own beliefs?
One Love! What about the one heart? One Heart!
What about - ? Let's get together and feel all right
As it was in the beginning (One Love!);
[ Find more Lyrics at www.mp3lyrics.org/H3P1 ]
So shall it be in the end (One Heart!),
All right!
Give thanks and praise to the Lord and I will feel all right;
Let's get together and feel all right.
One more thing!
Let's get together to fight this Holy Armagiddyon (One Love!),
So when the Man comes there will be no, no doom (One Song!).
Have pity on those whose chances grows t'inner;
There ain't no hiding place from the Father of Creation.
Sayin': One Love! What about the One Heart? (One Heart!)
What about the - ? Let's get together and feel all right.
I'm pleadin' to mankind! (One Love!);
Oh, Lord! (One Heart) Wo-ooh!
Give thanks and praise to the Lord and I will feel all right;
Let's get together and feel all right.
Give thanks and praise to the Lord and I will feel all right;
Let's get together and feel all right. /fadeout/ -

Bella Ciao - ORIGINALE
by BattleForTelenuovo 2,603,387 views
Una mattina mi sono svegliato,
o bella, ciao! bella, ciao! bella, ciao, ciao, ciao!
Una mattina mi sono svegliato,
e ho trovato l'invasor.
O partigiano, portami via,
o bella, ciao! bella, ciao! bella, ciao, ciao, ciao!
O partigiano, portami via,
ché mi sento di morir.
E se io muoio da partigiano,
o bella, ciao! bella, ciao! bella, ciao, ciao, ciao!
E se io muoio da partigiano,
tu mi devi seppellir.
E seppellire lassù in montagna,
o bella, ciao! bella, ciao! bella, ciao, ciao, ciao!
E seppellire lassù in montagna,
sotto l'ombra di un bel fior.
Tutte le genti che passeranno,
o bella, ciao! bella, ciao! bella, ciao, ciao, ciao!
Tutte le genti che passeranno,
Mi diranno «Che bel fior!»
«È questo il fiore del partigiano»,
o bella, ciao! bella, ciao! bella, ciao, ciao, ciao!
«È questo il fiore del partigiano, morto per la libertà!» -

Louis Armstrong-Go Down Moses
by Kristina Kalmatsui 2,259,860 views
Go down, Moses, way down in Egypt land
Tell old Pharaoh
To let my people go.
Now when Israel was in Egypt land
(Let my people go)
Oppressed so hard they could not stand
(Let my people go)
So the Lord said:
Go down, Moses
way down in Egypt land
Tell old Pharaoh
To let my people go.
So Moses went to Egypt land
(Let my people go)
He made old Pharaoh understand
(Let my people go)
Yes the Lord said:
Go down, Moses
way down in Egypt land
Tell old Pharaoh
To let my people go.
Thus spoke the Lord, bold Moses said,
(Let my people go)
If not I'll smite your firstborn dead
(Let my people go)
'Cause the Lord said:
Go down Moses
Way down in Egypt land
Tell old Pharaoh
To let my people go
Tell old Pharaoh to let my people go -

New Model Army: 1984
by Bollezza 6,389 views
The vans they come in convoys now, stealing through the dawn Silent in the countryside in the hills up to the north There's road blocks on the Meden bridge There's click, click clicking on the phone They're sealing off our villages, sealing off our homes This ain't some tin-pot story arriving from a distant shore But our own sweet, green and pleasant land in 1984 Her father crossed the battle lines in the first months of the war She frowns down at the soup kitchen - she doesn't have a father anymore It's cold in the early mornings, standing with your mates Staring at the thick blue line armed and ready at the gates This ain't some tin-pot story arriving from a distant shore But our own sweet, green and pleasant land in 1984 The servants of our great nation Have lied in the name of us all While the officers of peace and order Are busy breaking every law There's hundreds on trumped-up charges Hundreds on the streets The future of our villages Sown with bitter seeds And hatred starts to rumble where there was no hate before In our own sweet green and pleasant land in 1984 Nobody wanted to see the blood As the blue lights flash through in the night But all the words fell on deaf ears And now the blind frustration bites Two nations under one crown divided more and more In our own sweet green and pleasant land in 1984

José Mário Branco- Mudam-se os Tempos...
by João Correia 98,666 views
Letras:
Mudam-se os tempos, mudam-se as vontades,
Muda-se o ser, muda-se a confiança;
Todo o mundo é composto de mudança,
Tomando sempre novas qualidades.
Continuamente vemos novidades,
Diferentes em tudo da esperança;

Public Enemy - Fight The Power
by kfidgs 5,028,695 views
"Fight the power" single by Public Enemy from the album 'Do the Right Thing and Fear of a Black Planet' [1989]
1989 the number another summer (get down)
Sound of the funky drummer
Music hittin' your heart cause I know you got sould
(Brothers and sisters, hey)
Listen if you're missin' y'all
Swingin' while I'm singin'
Givin' whatcha gettin'
Knowin' what I know
While the Black bands sweatin'
And the rhythm rhymes rollin'
Got to give us what we want
Gotta give us what we need
Our freedom of speech is freedom or death
We got to fight the powers that be
Lemme hear you say
Fight the power
Chorus
As the rhythm designed to bounce
What counts is that the rhymes
Designed to fill your mind
Now that you've realized the prides arrived
We got to pump the stuff to make us tough
from the heart
It's a start, a work of art
To revolutionize make a change nothin's strange
People, people we are the same
No we're not the same
Cause we don't know the game
What we need is awareness, we can't get careless
You say what is this?
My beloved lets get down to business
Mental self defensive fitness
(Yo) bum rush the show
You gotta go for what you know
Make everybody see, in order to fight the powers that be
Lemme hear you say...
Fight the Power
Chorus
Elvis was a hero to most
But he never meant shit to me you see
Straight up racist that sucker was
Simple and plain
Mother fuck him and John Wayne
Cause I'm Black and I'm proud
I'm ready and hyped plus I'm amped
Most of my heroes don't appear on no stamps
Sample a look back you look and find
Nothing but rednecks for 400 years if you check
Don't worry be happy
Was a number one jam
Damn if I say it you can slap me right here
(Get it) lets get this party started right
Right on, c'mon
What we got to say
Power to the people no delay
To make everybody see
In order to fight the powers that be

La internacional anarquista (guerra civil)
by Guy Fawkes 30,836 views
nuestra bandera triunfal.
Agrupémonos todos
a la lucha social.
Con la FAI lograremos
el éxito final
Los hombres han de ser hermanos,
cese la desigualdad.
La Tierra será paraíso
libre de la Humanidad.
Agrupémonos todos
a la lucha social.

FISCHIA IL VENTO
by PETRELLO 193,290 views
Fischia il vento e infuria la bufera,
scarpe rotte e pur bisogna andar
a conquistare la rossa primavera
dove sorge il sol dell'avvenir.
A conquistare...
dura vendetta verrà dal partigian;
ormai sicura è già la dura sorte
del fascista vile e traditor.
Ormai sicura...
Cessa il vento, calma è la bufera,
torna a casa il fiero partigian,
sventolando la rossa sua bandiera;
vittoriosi, al fin liberi siam!
Sventolando... -

Cálice

Cálice
Chico Buarque
Composição: Chico Buarque e Gilberto Gil
Pai, afasta de mim esse cálice
Pai, afasta de mim esse cálice
Pai, afasta de mim esse cálice
De vinho tinto de sangue
Pai, afasta de mim esse cálice
Pai, afasta de mim esse cálice
Pai, afasta de mim esse cálice
De vinho tinto de sangue
Como beber dessa bebida amarga
Tragar a dor, engolir a labuta
Outra realidade menos morta
Quero morrer do meu próprio veneno
Quero perder de vez tua cabeça
Minha cabeça perder teu juízo
Quero cheirar fumaça de óleo diesel
Me embriagar até que alguem me esqueça -

The Clash - Guns of Brixton
by Alexm799 1,488,930 views
"The Guns of Brixton" is a song by The Clash on their third album, London Calling, released in 1979. It was written and sung by bassist Paul Simonon, who grew up in Brixton, south London. It has a strong reggae influence, reflecting the culture of the area, with a knowing nod to the classic reggae gangster film, The Harder They Come. A somewhat heavier, faster version than the one found on London Calling appeared on the live compilation From Here to Eternity: Live, released in 1999.
The song pre-dates the race riots that took place in the 1980s in Brixton but the lyrics depict the feelings of discontent that were building due to heavy-handedness of the police that lead to the riots, the recession and other problems at that time. -

Johnny Cash - Apache Tears
by 1michelemichele1 163,772 views
from "Bitter Tears"
Hoof prints and foot prints deep ruts the wagons made
The victor and the loser came by here
No head stones but these bones bring Mascalero death moans
See the smooth black nuggets by the thousands laying here
Petrified but justified are these Apache tears
Dead grass dry roots hunger crying in the night
Ghost of broken hearts and laws are here
And who saw the young squaw they judged by their whiskey law
Tortured till she died of pain and fear
Where the soldiers lay her back are the black Apache tears
The young men the old men the guilty and the innocent
Bled red blood and chilled alike with fears
The red men the white men no fight ever took this land
So don't raise the dust when you pass here
They're sleeping and in my keeping are these Apache tears
lyrics written by Peter LaFarge

Hedwig and the Angry Inch-Origin of Love
by stelladei 45,786 views
Written by Stephen Trask
Inspired by Aristophane's speech in Plato's Symposium
http://www.anselm.edu/homepage/dbanach/sym.htm
::Lyrics::
When the earth was still flat,
And the clouds made of fire,
And mountains stretched up to the sky,
Sometimes higher,
Folks roamed the earth
Like big rolling kegs.
They had two sets of arms.
They had two sets of legs.
They had two faces peering
Out of one giant head
So they could watch all around them
As they talked; while they read.
And they never knew nothing of love.
It was before the origin of love.
The origin of love
And there were three sexes then,
One that looked like two men
Glued up back to back,
Called the children of the sun.
And similar in shape and girth
Were the children of the earth.
They looked like two girls
Rolled up in one.
And the children of the moon
Were like a fork shoved on a spoon.
They were part sun, part earth
Part daughter, part son.
The origin of love
Now the gods grew quite scared
Of our strength and defiance
And Thor said,
"I'm gonna kill them all
With my hammer,
Like I killed the giants."
And Zeus said, "No,
You better let me
Use my lightening, like scissors,
Like I cut the legs off the whales
And dinosaurs into lizards."
Then he grabbed up some bolts
And he let out a laugh,
Said, "I'll split them right down the middle.
Gonna cut them right up in half."
And then storm clouds gathered above
Into great balls of fire
And then fire shot down
From the sky in bolts
Like shining blades
Of a knife.
And it ripped
Right through the flesh
Of the children of the sun
And the moon
And the earth.
And some Indian god
Sewed the wound up into a hole,
Pulled it round to our belly
To remind us of the price we pay.
And Osiris and the gods of the Nile
Gathered up a big storm
To blow a hurricane,
To scatter us away,
In a flood of wind and rain,
And a sea of tidal waves,
To wash us all away,
And if we don't behave
They'll cut us down again
And we'll be hopping round on one foot
And looking through one eye.
Last time I saw you
We had just split in two.
You were looking at me.
I was looking at you.
You had a way so familiar,
But I could not recognize,
Cause you had blood on your face;
I had blood in my eyes.
But I could swear by your expression
That the pain down in your soul
Was the same as the one down in mine.
That's the pain,
Cuts a straight line
Down through the heart;
We called it love.
So we wrapped our arms around each other,
Trying to shove ourselves back together.
We were making love,
Making love.
It was a cold dark evening,
Such a long time ago,
When by the mighty hand of Jove,
It was the sad story
How we became
Lonely two-legged creatures,
