A passenger plane carrying more than 150 people has crashed into a building in Nigeria's main city of Lagos. The jet, owned by Nigerian-based Dana Air, struck a two-storey building and burst into flames. The head of the Nigerian Civil Aviation Authority said it was unlikely that anyone survived. The downed jet was a McDonnell Douglas MD-83 model. Amid conflicting reports of how many might be on board, most accounts indicated there were 153 passengers on the plane when it went down. No survivors have been reported.

Nigeria's president Goodluck Jonathan has declared three days of national mourning after an airliner crashed in the
commercial capital Lagos.

The Dana airlines flight was on its way from the capital Abuja. The cause of the crash is still unclear but the aircraft crashed down in a densely populated suburb north of the airport.

All 153 passengers and crew have reportedly been killed.
