US Defense Secretary visits Afghanistan to ease tensions

US Defense Secretary Leon Panetta is in Afghanistan for an unannounced visit, to meet with troops and Afghan officials, just days after a U.S. Soldier killed 16 Afghan civilians. As his plane landed, a car attempted to get onto the runway to collide with the plane, but failed to do so. He then held talks with Afghan President Hamid Karzai in Kabul on Thursday, as Afghan lawmakers expressed anger over the US decision to fly the soldier accused of the killings out of the country, to Kuwait.
