So this is the beginning of my little dev journal series. I won't be recording with my phone in the future, this was just a quick demo. I'll be working on a new game that I'll give more details on over the course of it's development. For now I'll say it's a FPS/zombie apocalypse/sim/strategy/RPG... It's pretty ambitious but I'm an ambitious type of guy.

So many more addition in this update, I've included the coveted day/night system. Zombie balls now spawn more slowly and naturally plus they wander freely. Lighting effects out the wazoo and the sun and moon to name a few.
Also I'm looking for help from 2d and 3d artists to make production go more quickly.

So doing something different again. I'm going to show you the process for modelling a pawnshop in this video. Pretty simple stuff but it ends up working quite well. This will be the new mesh I'll be using for the pawnshop in game where players will find weapons and other salvageable items.

Well I have zombie like creatures now, and they're more than just balls! I also figured out some animation stuff so I can animate them as well. Still just need better models and I'll be good to go.

Just wanted to put up this video showing the benefits of using parallax shading to give objects sort of depth. It works a lot better than diffuse detail mapping but requires a bit more work to get it right. I'm thinking it will be worth it though.

In this one I've updated the house model quite a bit. I've used a completely different floor plan and I made sure everything was straight. I also took a few artistic liberties as well. On top of that I actually began texturing things and it is starting to look like an actual house.

So I've updated the way building spawn in this version so that there will be a maximum of 1 police station, 8 houses, and 2 pawn shops. This will be important for later so that I can make sure that each map has the required number of building available. I've also got the basic system for fortifying an area up.

So I've completed the code that handles building walls and connecting them. Harder than it sounds actually, especially since my initial solution was extremely complex. I eventually ended up doing something much simpler as far as how to handle it and it worked out great. Now I just need to add survivors...

It's been awhile since I did an update but now that I'm basically off work for a month I have more time to work on the game. In this update I added a smooth sky transition and some flatter roads. Also the doors now smoothly open and shut.

So after getting a few more things implemented into the game I decided that there is enough to actually release as an alpha. This initial release is version 0.0.16, and it has the basic features of the game implemented. Since the last video I added a couple new things:
- New Fire Axe model
- Zombies are back in the game and spawncode has been tweaked
- All houses have been replaced with the more simple format
- Fog has been added to make the game more ominous and raise frame rate
- Doors have been added to all sides of walls
If you'd like to try out the alpha it's a small 20.4Mb zip file. All you have to do is download it and extract it to a folder named whatever you want. And the link is below.

So in the most recent update I've released Alpha Version 0.0.17. In this update the zombies have been made faster, stronger, and smarter. Also I've updated the fence texture and added a few other minor fixes.

So i've added in a slight head bob to make walking seem more fluid and less floaty. Also I've got a lot more detail in the police station to show off, and a few bugs are fixed.

Here is the final video I'm making before the .20 update. There is a fully functional police station, a few art pieces still missing, but all the spawners are in and it can now be fortified. Also a zombie scared the hell out of me.
