    Just Rite Camera Brackets

    by damonwebster 57,455 views

The Just Rite Camera Bracket does everything we wanted it to: quick release for the flash, rotating bracket for the camera, quick release for the camera to go to a tripod AND rotate the camera. We've seen a bunch (and bought a few) that don't serve the all assignment needs that this one does.
When you are shooting an event that requires a flash on camera sometimes and a tripod or monopod for other parts. you get the speed you need here. Solidly build by a master craftsman, and former photographer, Gary Justice, this is a winner unit.

PMA 2008 - New Nikon Lenses

    by damonwebster 73,729 views

This year Nikon is introducing some very cool new lenses.
The 16-85mm zoom has VRII, that means virbration reduction, which can get you up to 4 more stops for exposure in a zoom lens.
Then the Tilt/Shift Lens called 24mm PC/E . Like having a View Camera in your hands with perspective control and a tilt feature. Canon has had one of these for years but this update, finally brings the Nikon series in-line. And it's arguably a better lens.Watch for the 45 and 85 PC/E later.
The Micro Nikkor has been around for years and the new 60mm deserves a spot in your camera bag.

ShootSac, Sony Cyber-Shot DSC-T200 with Smile Detection and Visible Dust

    by damonwebster 11,776 views

Jessica Claire has come up with a great solution for the on-site shooter with ShootSac, a neoprene system with 30 cool covers to add to the look of it.
Sony has come out with a Point & Shoot with the next generation in auto-technology:
Smile detection. Yep, it won't shoot the picture unless someone is smiling. And it works! Of course you don't have to set it like this. It is a well done camera even without that feature. But dang, it's pretty cool.
And when you are taking your lenses on and off all the time , you'll need Visible Dust. I know, it's maintenance but consider it like eating your vegetables: you'll be happy you did it in the end.

Yes, we use rechargeables, and being able to pop a couple in for extended usage, still is the best for us., especially on location.

Lensbaby jumps into the Micro 4/3's arena

    by damonwebster 3,818 views

One of the most loved systems of add-on lenses for photography, Lensbaby, showed off 2 of their new products at PhotoPlus Expo in Oct. and they've decided to take care of the folks in the 4/3's arena. OK, decided not just because it was there but because the physical properties of some of the cameras allowed some pretty special uses for this new Lensbaby product. Plus they came out with the simplest Lensbaby ever, The Scout, using all of the swap optics in the system, including one of out faves, the Pinhole adapter.

The Modern Classic G series gets a minor update

    by damonwebster 2,693 views

And when we say minor, let's talk upgraded video to 720p and a stereo mic instead of just mono.
But then we take a closer look and the new and improved stabilization system coupled with the 4.2 frames per second, now places this series smack in the realm of action shooting.
That has been the downside of every point and shoot, especially to the market they are targeted too.
The shutter lag inherent in these smaller cameras makes them lose that critical picture of the kids reacting, or kicking that soccer goal.
    This should take of that.
The new HS exposure system, makes smarter choice that most Auto exposure systems, and for the HR+DR enthusiasts, well that feature can be automated now.
Keep a tripod or Gorillapod around though, for those.
