Our Baby Girl is finally here!

Just wanted to let you all know that we finally welcomed our baby girl, Allie Reina, this past weekend. We had an all natural delivery (again!) and everything went smoothly. We are both at home spending time with her big brother, Juice and my hubby.
She was born on 9/24/11 at 1:06 am. Weight: 8 lbs 15 oz. Length: 21.5" long
Thank you for all your thoughts, prayers, emails, and gifts. We really appreciate it!

We have Peking ducklings on the farm! See them at 2 weeks old and how we are keeping them.11

Raising Peking Ducks- 2 week old ducklings on farm

In this quick video I give you a tour of our new homemade duck pen and coop. We recently mail ordered 10 Peking ducks from Murray McMurray Hatchery and they sent us an extra one for free, which seems to be the industry standard for hatcheries. Not bad!

They all arrived in perfect shape, healthy and active. We kept them inside the house in a large kiddie pool for the first week and a half and have just moved them outdoors into their new pen to get acclimated to the temperature and environment. They are two weeks old now and are doing great!
We ordered "straight run" ducklings meaning we didn't have them sexed. So, in other words I don't know how many male or female ducks I have but it was less expensive to order them this way so we took the chance to save some money and we figured chances are pretty good that we will have at least one drake (male duck) in the bunch. Apparently we'll be able to tell who is who in a few weeks when they start quacking their real quacks and you can tell who is male or female by the quack. That should be interesting!
