    by Monique Richert 227 views

Protect Yourself 1, Inc. (PY1)'s Executive Director, Monique Richert, speaks about TechSoup.org. PY1 is a TechSoup member since 2007, and benefits from its online product donation. Each year PY1 get software, such as QuickBooks, Microsoft Office in order to manage PY1's administrative task and software such as Adobe Creative Suite to produce Social Marketing Media Campaign. The latest, PY1 Social Marketing Media Campaign production, named Safe2live, targets at-risk youth ages 8 to 13. The campaign uses the World Wide Web, cable networks and features a Mobile Puppet Theater (MPT), considered as a science based program because of its survey results. The MPT was implemented in Baltimore City Public School and was a success in real life. In 2011, PY1 met with Cherry Network Consulting, Sally Cherry, whose avatar name is Sarvana Haalan, promoting virtual world benefits to Maryland non profits, Cherry Network Consulting convinced PY1 to join Second Life. TechSoup Global graciously donated a free space to PY1 on Nonprofit Commons within Second Life. To have created a virtual office on Nonprofit Commons gave an opportunity to Protect Yourself 1 to network, collaborate, create events, fundraise, entertain, educate and promote its program and service. Thanks to TechSoup, PY1 is exploring and utilizing the virtual world, Second Life, to forward its mission: HIV and STD Awareness, Education and Prevention, globally.
