I'd run into this recording (and a couple others) on my Mini-DV tapes while doing some digital archiving,. Considering I've not seen a MiniDV camera lately, figured it was a good idea to save these with best possible resolution while my camera's working well.
Looking at the version I'd originally uploaded to Vimeo (https://vimeo.com/1460951), I'm first seeing 504x380 to 640x480 (unsure if wasn't available when first uploading or something with the render, but whatever - nice!). Then, behind the scenes in YouTube's editor, I was able to enhance the colors and ... get this, image stabilization! Now this may sound minor, or something you'd expect with your modern camcorders, but taking this handheld shaky-cam video through this was nothing short of amazing.
You'll see this loud and clear watching the doors in the background or anything here, it's smooth and the colors aren't as washed out either. There's sometimes I've tried this with less than stellar results (almost like the colors were over-saturated and bleeded over image), but for these recordings so far, it's looking pretty cool.
Now... my glitch discovery also made me consider that there's a lot of videos already on YouTube that I have (you may too!) that were uploaded when there was lesser technologies, especially considering their editing tools were recently added and even more currently, enhanced. From the background, you can choose from a ton of different palettes of colors and modifications; from colors and fixes, all the way through removing faces or copyrighted sounds. -

This is a completely pointless video that I made for absolutely no reason except I happened to be behind a camera with a guitar and a book about how to trim cats nails. I have Bengals and their nails are crazy compared to other cats and overall it's often easier to provide them with things to scratch but every week or two I like to trim off the razor sharp edges as they can unintentionally hurt delicate humans. This is my only video without a cat in it as I think I actually embarrassed them by making this song, meow.
