Ongoing Syrian turmoil as aid workers are denied access

Hundreds of civilians are trapped in Homs' old city according to the International Red Cross - with aid workers forced to turn back as they tried to enter Homs while clashes continued there. After more than ten days of fighting, residents said the Syrian army was still shelling central districts of Homs. while shelling was also reporting in other towns across the country. A Turkish fighter plane was also shot down by the Syrian military, adding to the ongoing diplomatic crisis.
