After a trial that lasted 10 months, Hosni Mubarak, the former Egyptian president, has been found guilty for his role in the death of hundreds at the hands of police, during in the first week of the revolution.
He was sentenced to life in prison, but was acquitted on corruption charges.
His former Interior Minister was also convicted for conspiring to kill protesters, and given a life sentence.
Following his sentence, there were tussles in the court as Mubarak was flown from the court to Torah prison, on the outskirts of Cairo. Crowds cheered loudly at the verdict, but then marched to gather in protest in Tahrir square when Mubarak's sons were acquitted.
