Shelter at last
From studying under exposed elements to attending school in 2 roofed classrooms, your contributions have made a huge difference to the children of Ngora Okoboi Primary school. With the $6000 you contributed, we demolished the rotting roof, built a ring beam around the brick structure to support the new roof trusses, constructed and installed new roof trusses as well as weather resistant iron sheet roofing in two of the six classrooms.
As construction progressed world fuel prices shot up causing severe increases in the price of raw materials in Uganda and much of Eastern Africa. This meant that we couldn't roof half the block as we'd planned, but we were undeterred. We continued building, which is why today, the children can attend class under 2 roofed classrooms! We still have to do some plastering, touch up a few areas and roof the rest of the block.
Thank you for your contributions and please continue to help or enlist a friend of yours. To donate visit our website or our Global Giving Project Page. Together we've started the journey and just so that you can see the progress and share in our excitement we took some pictures and made a video:
