This was a video collaboration made as part of a team entry between intern architect Derek DeLand and Kim Glennie, partners in formLAB design, for the Migrating Landscapes competition in 2011.
We among the regional winners chosen to display our work at the Museum of Vancouver.
Kim's video corresponds to Derek's innovative "Magnificent Jettison", a suite of three buildings using skatepark ideas as architectural form generators, with the 1969 Apollo moon landings as their organizing metaphor. Named for Buzz Aldrin's phrase "magnificent desolation". The video explores the ideas of identity, migration, progress, loss and belonging.
