I continue to be frustrated by the way we as a society are missing the point around this Climate Crisis. The majority of people still think that caring about the environment is a "do gooder" thing to do. Save the polar bears. Save the trees. Save the beaches. What about save our grandchildren? Somehow we continue to hear about the Climate Crisis as if its threats are limited to forests and polar bears when in fact they extend to human rights. Poised to trigger wars over water, the drowning of island nations, the genocide of refugees, a collapse in the global economy, dramatic increases in hunger, natural disasters, poverty, disease, and other horrors beyond imagination, the Climate Crisis is a villain that we cannot afford to ignore any longer.

Our biggest challenge is that most of our world remains uninspired to join in. I believe that we can be the heroes we've dreamt of being since we were little. And I believe as these heroes for our world, we've got to have the courage to inspire. That's where the Imagine Better Contest comes in.

The Imagine Better Contest can be found at imaginebetter.org It goes from June 27th to July 20 at 11:59 ET. Here folks can come up with ideas and art to inspire people. For the idea contest, people just put in ideas that will change their neighborhoods or organize something really big. They can also submit ideas like, "I want to see Dan Brown promote the environment by doing _____" or submit ideas as to how they would promote events that are already taking place like Moving Planet (http://moving-planet.org)
What's more, people can also submit artwork illustrating the evils of the Climate Crisis and how to fight it. The art can be a painting, music, video, a comic―anything they choose!

The number one most voted on will win $1000 and the top ideas will get to hear from either you, John or Hank Green, the guy who played Giles on Buffy the Vampire Slayer, the guy who played George Costanza on Seinfeld, Evanna Lynch who plays Luna Lovegood in Harry Potter, and some of the most important leaders of the environmental movement.

Do you think your community could come up with ideas? And what kind of ideas and art would you suggest to get people to show the world that t his is not simply about fighting four the survival of our tress and polar bears. It's about the survival of us and our children, What would you submit as an innovative idea to inspire people?
