Brad Lukowich and Sharkie At Holly Oak Elementary School (part 2) pinoyxp - 115 views - 1 month ago
Defenseman Brad Lukowich cut through the traffic in front of the net, perfectly stick-handling between the outstretched sticks attempting to stop him. The last player to beat was the goalie, who was clearly struggling to keep up with Lukowichs speed. Left to right, forehand to backhand, a flick of the wrist and the puck was in the back of the net.

Cheers erupted from the second and third graders at Holly Oak Elementary School, from both the sidelines and from the students playing on Team Teal. Lukowich just gave his side a 2-0 lead over Sharkies Team Orange.

Today was the Sharkie Lunch Bunch Day for Holly Oaks students and that meant that the Mobile Shark Tank was coming. Included in the visit was Sharks mascot S.J. Sharkie, who helped his crew who set up a street hockey court for the students. Also present was Lukowich, who assisted by playing in the games and serving ice cream.

Lots of these kids only see us on the ice during games, Lukowich said, so to come out and do something like this helps them realize that we are just like them.

He also added that he and many of his teammates have children. As a result, he feels good about giving back to the younger generation.

Mobile Shark Tank is a program aimed at creating a positive athletic experience for elementary school students. Additionally, the MST allows the Sharks Fan Development Program to reach students who otherwise might not have a way of knowing about hockey or the Sharks.

Holly Oaks Parent Teacher Association President Sherry Gilmore explained how the
75 students were chosen to play in the street hockey games out of the more than 600 who attended the event.

We held a contest where students submitted a poem, drew a picture or wrote a story, Gilmore said. We selected the best ones and those students are playing today.

These student projects were posted on walls throughout the school for everyone to see. One drawing that caught the eye of many on the staff working the event was of a shark wearing a Jonathan Cheechoo sweater swimming up from the depths of the water with its jaws open. The shark was headed toward a duck on the surface. Written on the bottom on the drawing: Well meet again.

Most Mobile Shark Tank visits last a little more than two hours, allowing students to play multiple games of 5-on-5 hockey. To the delight of all the students, every visit in Santa Clara County ends with ice cream.

Daughter PARIS ' TEARFUL GOODBYE & We Are The World - Heal The World @ Michael Jackson Memorial. vanuriana - 888,177 views - 1 week ago
@ timeline 8:45 (just click) daughter Paris Jackson emotionally says goodbye to her father. Live all-star performance of "We Are The World" and "Heal The World" and Michael Jackson's casket leaving the Staples Center on Gone Too Soon, sung by Usher.

Michael Jacksons daughter broke down in tears as she spoke of her love for him at his memorial service. Paris the late Thriller stars second child - joined the late pop icons siblings on stage at Los Angeles Staples Center on Tuesday (07.07.09) to pay an emotional tribute to her father.
The singers for "We Are The World" were the backing vocalists chosen by Michael Jackson to support him in the London O2 Arena concerts. Their names are:
DARRYL PHINNESSEE: There comes a time...
KEN STACEY: there are people dying ...
DORIAN HOLLEY: we cant go on...
JUDITH HiLL: we are all a part of ...(more about her below)
ORIANTHI PANGARIS: we are the world

Judith Hill singing lead in "Heal The World".
"When the all-star Michael Jackson memorial ceremony in Los Angeles came to an end, millions of fans watching the event became curious about the young woman who sang lead on Jacksons Heal the World. The mystery singer was Judith Hill, a Pasadena, California-based vocalist who was recruited to be one of the backup singers for Jacksons This Is It! concerts at Londons O2 Arena. Hill wowed the crowd and the millions watching around the world with her rendition of the Dangerous song, but her identity had most viewers baffled — the We Are the World and Heal the World performers werent identified in the handouts at the Staples Center or on any other documents distributed to the press. According to the bio on Hills official Website, Judith was born in Los Angeles and raised in a family of musicians. Her mother is an immigrant from Japan who met her father in a funk band in the 1970s. Hill is described as discovering her love of music at an early age while growing up in a deeply religious household, which led her to attend the Christian university Biola University in Southern California. Hills bio says the singer next headed to France after graduation to perform with French singer Michel Polnareff. France is where I collected my stories, Hill writes. It was everything from finding true love, to sitting on the curb with gypsies, to running away from thugs (dont ask), to just taking in the beauty of such an amazing country. I came back rich. From there, Hill returned to the States, begin work on her own album (three songs are currently streaming on Hills MySpace page) and ultimately became a crew member on whats described as the biggest production in concert history, Michael Jacksons This Is It! concerts. On June 8th 2009, Hill announced on her official Website that she would be joining the cast of Jacksons run at Londons O2 Arena. Judith will be touring with Michael Jackson in a few weeks. You can catch her on stage in London at the 02 Arena, reads a post. Sadly, the This Is It! run was canceled, but Hill and her fellow crew members played an important role in MJ memorial service, and Hill will likely feature in the tribute concert AEG Live is reportedly planning using the This Is It! production."
