Extemporaneous, alla-prima, intuitive artwork. I paint all kinds of stuff and show you the process. It is fantastic.
I also upload the occasional random video that has nothing to do with art and more to do with what Im up to at the moment...
------------------------------ -------------------
Important note about the artwork:
The colors present far better on the website than they do on video so go there and see what the paintings really look like.
...
There are countless more paintings, drawings and sculptures in my studio and gallery as well as hundreds of works that are held in various collections all over the world. What u see here and on the website is only a fraction of the Paul Cumes catalogue.
In other words, the madness is far greater than what you see here. Oh dear.
Thank you very much for the kind comments and subscriptions. If I dont reply it just means I am busy painting, but i do appreciate it :)
------------------------------ ------------------------------ -----
MOST of these youtube paintings are made in one hour, alla-prima style.
Alla prima is a style of painting where, instead of building colors up with layers or glazing over an underpainting, the painting is completed while the paint is still wet. Strictly defined, an alla prima painting would be started and finished in one painting session, but the term is also more loosely applied to any painting done in a direct, expressive style, with minimal preparation.
Alla prima comes from Italian, literally meaning "at once". The French term is premier coup.
Famous painters who worked in an alla prima style are as diverse as Paul Cezanne, John Singer Sargent, Mary Cassatt, Winslow Homer, Caravaggio, Hieronymus Bosch, and Frans Hals.

How to make good cheap brushes with little money or effort !
You might find this interesting I did it last night, just got the idea.
I took the cheapest white/hog hair brushes and (you can buy square sanding blocks/ i took a medium or coarse and fine to finish) , I put my finger on the cheap coarse hair brush and rubbed it on the "coarse" sanding block first and then to finish on the "smooth" block next each like you are sharpening a knife, next thing you know you have a smooth brush for $2 instead of $10-20. Or sandpaper works also...it works so good it's a blessing I thought of it, by accident! When you use it you would never know it was the same brush. I rubbed vigorously for say 2-5min on each block.
It works like a charm. Like a tapering pair cut
A friend donated me a bunch of oils, some small canvas boards and 10 brushes no larger than a 1/2 inch!
And oil and acrylics are worlds apart and I am pretty frustrated to say the least ! I cant figure what is best when blending and how to blend even light to dark or vice versa ???? I really need a little mentoring or some tips and techniques !? Please help with ANY ADVICE you have or webpage/videos ! ! !
thx 4 the 'how to's
