The infantry unit will be in many cases to organized to fight off a flexible guerrilla force. This is why the illegal war in Iraq continues to go on, because the occuppying forces are up against a flexible guerrilla fighter that comes at them from all sides.

As the rebels of Castro's July 26th movement reached the beaches of the Cuban coast, they were met with terrifying superior fire power from Batista's regime. The rebels were split into two groups due to the ambush. As the splintered group began to hike towards the Sierra Maestra mountains, they found out that over 3/4 of the over 80 rebels that landed on the beach were either captured, executed, or killed in combat. Most of those who surrendered were executed after being taken prisoner by Batista's U.S.-backed regime. Fidel's guerrilla band was able to regroup two days later. The tactics of a Guerrilla fighter enable him to be flexible no matter what the circumstance is. This is what allowed Fidel's rebel band to be able to regroup in the Sierra Maestra and unleash decisive assaults against the Batista regime. The FLEXIBLE BUT DISCIPlINED guerrilla band will always be able regenerate itself if it has recieved a harsh blow, if it is PREPARED for those blows.
