Hello! I got your request for Journey's Don't Stop Believing, and I've added it to my song requests list. I get many requests, so if I get around to it, I'll see what I can do. I'll let you know if I make the video. I appreciate your interest and please continue to tune in!

After that, it's really just polishing it up as best you can to make it an interpretation, rather than a translation. This includes working on facial expressions (probably the most important part, really), trying to use your mouth properly rather than just mouthing along the whole time, using classifiers to paint a picture when it would do better than using signs alone, using the signing space constructively, etc. I was in the bad habit of just uploading my interpretations as soon as I was done with them, rather than letting them sit and percolate and fine-tuning them, and I think that is what will make the difference.

Also, I gotta say I love your interpretations of all the different instruments! =]

You're really too kind!

Good for you for picking up ASL again! Judging from your songs, you were in good shape. You avoid the biggest pitfall I see with people who try to sign songs in ASL on YouTube (and a pitfall I'm especially guilty of in my older videos). That is, translating the song directly from English, almost word-for word, rather than interpreting it. For the most part you do a pretty good job of finding the meaning of the song rather than fretting about getting all the words in, and all sorts of idioms that just don't translate--and that is half the battle.
