OECS Member States are moving towards the establishment of an OECS Economic Union. At present, the Member States are involved in public consultations on a draft OECS Economic Union Treaty, providing the people of the region with an opportunity to comment on and make inputs into the document. The OECS Secretariat is assisting Member States with this process.

In an effort to help people better understand the provisions of the draft Treaty the Secretariat invited the Acid Kreations media production company to produce a twelve-part animated film series on OECS Economic Union.

Its the season of sharing, and staff of the OECS Secretariat reached out this Christmas to the students of the Des Barras Primary school from the tiny rural community of the same name in St. Lucia.

The students were hosted at the OECS Secretariat on Friday December 12th. They were given a tour of the various departments and then treated to Christmas goodies including presents.

Our cameras captured some of the fun enjoyed by both students and staff.

When the OECS High Commission in Ottawa heard a delegation from the OECS Headquarters in St. Lucia was passing through the Canadian Capital city in early June as part of a swing through Canada to promote business opportunities in the OECS, High Commissioner Mr. Brendon Brown and his staff quickly pulled together OECS nationals living and working in Ottawa for an evening of discussion on OECS integration, and the OECS Economic Union in particular.
OECS Director General Dr. Len Ishmael and Director of Economic Affairs Mr. Randolph Cato made presentations and then answered wide ranging and piercing questions.
This programme brings you highlights of that very interesting engagement at City Hall, Ottawa.

Dominica has taken the lead and the rest of the OECS are expected to follow soon. Public dialogue on a proposed OECS Economic Union was launched in Roseau on Wednesday April 23rd 2008, at a grand ceremony at State House, the official residence of the President of Dominica.
Addresses were delivered by OECS Chairman, Prime Minister Roosevelt Skerrit of Dominica, OECS Director General Dr. Len Ishmael and the Chairman of the OECS Economic Union Task Force and Governor of the Eastern Caribbean Central Bank Sir Dwight Venner.
Members of the audience then had their turn to direct questions and comments to a panel comprised of members of the Economic Union Task Force (a group set up by OECS Governments to lead the process).
