Civic Ventures is an organization dedicated to promoting the idea of "encore careers," helping boomers find jobs that combine personal meaning, continued income and social impact. For this project, Civic Ventures recruited Next Agenda to produce a series of documentaries and video interviews that would illuminate the organization's mission and broadcast it through the web. For this purpose, Next Agenda came to an Encore Careers conference outside of San Francisco in December, where Civic Ventures met with people from a wide variety of organizations to mobilize a movement. Next Agenda dropped in to the conference with a highly mobile team of video journalists, where we shot footage of the event and conducted deep interviews with some of the conference speakers and attendees. We then worked closely with Civic Ventures to produce a variety of video pieces that helped to broadcast and amplify the organization's messages.
Peter Leyden is the founder and CEO of Next Agenda, responsible for integrating all the pieces of this new organization, new process and new media model. His background gives him the experience needed to pull all these diverse pieces together. Leyden previously was Director of the New Politics Institute, a think tank helping people in politics understand and adapt to the huge changes in technology and new media. NPI built a network of private sector experts in tech and new media who helped invent the new approach to politics characterized by the Obama campaign.
Next Agenda is a new media startup that seeks to advance big ideas by bringing together immersive video products with robust online collaboration. We help mission-oriented nonprofit organizations, think tanks, and private corporations to immersively cover gatherings with HD video and then scale up collaboration around the gatherings online. We also use a variety of innovative tools to produce our own video and web content.
