The Progressive Movement Crash Course was a series of panels created by the New Organizing institute to inform emerging progressives about the landscape of and the employment/volunteer opportunities that exist within the progressive movement. These panels all took place on Thursday, February 26th, 2009 in Washington, DC at the AFL-CIO headquarters.
In April, 2011, we partnered with Energy Action Coalition to bring Movement Building Training to Power Shift '11. Nearly 10,000 climate activists, mostly youth, descended on Washington, DC, and took part in the largest movement building training in history (as far as we know). Here are a few of the moments we captured.
The New Organizing Institute was created by the first generation of experienced online organizers, or "new organizers"-organizers who use all available new (and "seasoned") technologies to spark and coordinate activity both online and offline.
Our founders and collaborators are veterans of electoral campaigns and progressive nonprofits that have created some of the foremost online success stories.
By training new online organizers and technologists, our goal is to infuse this new field with talented staff, to connect and energize a new generation of progressive activists, and to solidify long-term progressive power.
