Mark Gillespie : Comin' Back For More nearlyout... - 16 views - 2 days ago
Well respected Australian singer-songwriter who recorded sporadically from the late 70s to early 90s. See http://www.bmusic.com.au/links /whatsnew/newsletters/archives /newsno38.html#where for more details. He gave the music business away many years ago.

This is his rare second single from 1979, which never appeared on album.

Loose Change : Hit Me With Another Double nearlyout... - 9 views - 2 days ago
Don't know much about this band; they were probably from Melbourne. This single was released in late 1979 on their own label Rockon. The clip is from Countdown, March 1980, when the show had started including independent bands.

I'm not aware of any further recordings by Loose Change.

Bushwackers : Lime Juice Tub / South Australia (1985) nearlyout... - 8 views - 2 days ago
Both from an edition of Good Afternoon Australia (Ten network) Jan 28 1985. Lime Juice Tub has live vocals by Roger Corbett but the backing is pre-recorded, actually taken from the "Lively" LP. This means Louis McManus is "miming" Tommy Emmanuel's guitar part! Freddie Strauks' (ex- Skyhooks) air drumming is completely authentic, however.

South Australia is an excerpt, sung a cappella by the whole band.

When I was originally taping these, the VCR tape head was getting worn, so the sound of LJT is lower than it should be with a thump or two but it can't be helped. Sth Aust is better and louder.

Glenn Shorrock & Ringo Starr : Honey Don't nearlyout... - 52 views - 2 days ago
Glenn Shorrock (Little River Band, Axiom, Twilights etc) joins with Ringo Starr on Michael Parkinson's Australian TV show c.1982. Band includes Mario Millo on guitar - is that Alan Mansfield on keyboards? A very rare performance; Shorrock & Starr never recorded together officially.

Ringo's final comment is cut a little short - he asks "did we pass the audition?" :)

Noel Crombie : My Voice Keeps Changing On Me (live) nearlyout... - 22 views - 3 days ago
Ex-Split Enz, his one and only solo single. This version was recorded on the Don Lane Show, 1983. The vocals are live, anyway, not sure about the rest...!

The Dagoes : Ten Years On nearlyout... - 35 views - 3 days ago
Legendary Adelaide garage / pop / punk band The Dagoes on Music Express c. 1981, the same year this single was released. For current details of the band and its history, see www.metalmachinemusic.com.au

This is probably the only clip ever made of the Dagoes, though I'd like to be proved wrong.

Bushwackers Band : Lachlan Tigers (1977) nearlyout... - 8 views - 3 days ago
Promo clip for a track from their Murrumbidgee album. Lead vocals by Mick Slocum - this line-up is also notable for including the late Pete Farndon on bass before he joined The Pretenders, though he only gets a couple of shots here. The also late Louis McManus is on fiddle.

The band has had many line-up changes since this clip was made - see www.thebushwackers.com.au for the latest news.

On "Tonight Live", Australian TV 1990. This version gives a good idea of the energy of a WPA performance. See www.mickthomas.com for latest news.

Matchbox : Juggling Time nearlyout... - 22 views - 5 days ago
The final incarnation of the Captain Matchbox Whoopee Band in 1980, when they were just known as Matchbox, or The Matchbox Band. This was an independent single; the line-up includes Mic and Jim Conway, Eric McCusker (later of Mondo Rock) and the late Louis McManus (also Bushwackers etc).
