I just thought of writing some stuff on your profile based on your comments on Kabuliwalah, Islam in Bengal was brought by Arabs in early 7-8th century, but it was spread by Afghans and Turks mostly. On 12th century, a Turkic ruler Mohammad Khilji invaded Bengal, and he moved out to conquer Tibet (where he died), but, from then onwards it was the Afghans that established and ruled Bengal for the next ~400 years, till the Mughals took over in 16th century. During that time, Bengal was one of the richest state of Sub-continent (no exaggeration).

The Capital of Bengal at that time was Sonargaon (a place in Bangladesh). Sonargaon literally means 'village of Gold'. One of the greatest ruler of Bengal during the end was Isa Khan, he was descendant of Suleiman Khan (an Afghan whose name is given after 'Suleiman Mountains in Afghanistan'). He prevented the Mughals from conquering Bengal for almost 40 years.

Salaam Brother.. LOL.. I am actually South Asian (Bangladeshi). But, interestingly my ancestors from mother side do trace to Afghanistan some 300's of yrs ago. My father's ancestors, they were originally from India (Calcutta), but they weren't Indian, they were migrants from some other place.. So, I am very mixed, though I am 100% Bangali :).

I have great interest in Afghanistan, i have read about it, from Ancient Aryana times to Bactria, to Khorasan to post late 1700's Afghanistan (when it took independence from Safavids).. I hope to visit it someday..
