"Some people complain because Allah put thorns on roses, while others praise Him for putting roses among thorns."
"He does not refuse sustenance to the one who speaks ill of Him. How then could He refuse sustenance to the one whose soul is overflowing with love for Him?"
-Rabi'a the Mystic
"There is a key for everything, and the key to Paradise is to love the poor."
-Hazrat Muhammad (SAWS),
"If a daughter is born to a person and he brings her up, gives her a good education and trains her in the arts of life, I shall myself stand between him and hell-fire."

One regret, dear world,
That I am determined not to have
When I am lying on my deathbed
Is that
I did not kiss you enough

Its very interesting about those traditions, because these are not bengali tradition. As far as I have seen these are not followed by other bengali familes. So, its true that you guys also follow these. Yes, we dont broom at night either. My grandparents used to tell me not to cut nails / hairs at night because, you will loose your eye-sight. Is that the same reason for you?. Also, do you light candles on night?. My mother does it sometimes (though we have electricity).. but my grandparents used to do it very often. its a tradition passed by generations.
I wanted to ask you few questions regarding some of the practices/traditions followed in my family.. i recently came to know that these are also followed by afghans, but i am not sure.... for example.. we don't eat Fish & Meat together, either Fish OR meat, but not both. We dont eat meat and milk together, especially if we eat Beef (Cow), we dont drink milk after that. We dont cut nails & Hairs at night, there are many other such things.. do any of these sound familiar?
you are an good AFG BROTHAAAAAA:D
