Clutch - Spacegrass (Bass) mymassive... - 61 views - 2 days ago
Got me a knew addition to the instrument family here. Nice Ibanez bass. Plays way better than the ol' Frankenstein bass I've had forever. Needed to find the right song to break it in with, found it with, of course, a Clutch song. Trippy little tune from Clutch's self titled album.

Tomorrow is the release date for Clutch's new album "Strange Cousins From The West". Go buy it. Gonna be awesome.

Agnostic Front - I Had Enough mymassive... - 77 views - 1 week ago
Quick and easy song from Agnostic Front. Needed something a bit easier after the last video I did. Haven't been playing much lately, too many summer sports for the kids and all that. About done with that so I should be able to make more vids here soon.

Enjoy

Megadeth - Set The World Afire mymassive... - 179 views - 3 weeks ago
Classic Megadeth tune from their "So Far, So Good... So What?" album. This song took forever for me to get down even this well. Quite a few mistakes, but not bad. Tons of just amazing riffs in this song. Crazy stuff.

Drumming to Hold The Line and using the "heal toe" method for the double base hits at the end. I tried to copy the original track very closely.

Great tune from Clutch from the "Robot Hive/Exodus" album. Pretty proud of this one. I've never even tried this one before tonight. Figured it was above my skills I guess. But I think I did alright on this... Also got a bit crazy and sang one line, I love the line and didn't even realize I'd mouthed the words until I watched the video. But, I'm going to leave it even though I look a bit insane. Pleasantly surprised at the tone also. Used the STEVIERAY preset on the Digitech RP250 and it sounds pretty darn close. Hope you enjoy. Clutch - Easy Breeze (Bass) mymassive... - 239 views - 7 months ago
I had a viewer write me this morning and ask if I knew this song and if I could help him get through a part he was having trouble learning. I told him I'd try to help him out sometime. Well, I've listened to the song before, obviously, it's Clutch, but I've never tried to learn it. Well, after work this afternoon I worked it up. This evening I recorded it. It's probably not perfect. But hopefully this helps you out.

Thanks also, this was a fun song to learn.

Clutch - Elephant Riders (Bass) mymassive... - 821 views - 8 months ago
Alright, after 90 videos of me playing guitar, I thought I'd post up something different. OK, not much different, but still. It's me playing the Bass... guitar. I don't play the bass much, and it probably shines through quite well in this vid, but I don't really care. I just wanted to see how the digitech rp250 would record bass to the computer direct. Not bad, especially considering the bass I'm playing. It's a Sears & Roebuck bass that my dad had like 35 years ago. A long time ago the pickups in it died and I took some really cheap pickups out of a crappy beatle bass I had. It's a true DIY punk bass, complete with random stickers my wife put on it for some reason. Oh well, it works for what I need it to do. And only a couple of mistakes to really make it mine.

Enjoy.

Pro Pain - Death On The Dancefloor mymassive... - 1,089 views - 7 months ago
Another Pro Pain, you'd think I'd run out of them... Not for awhile.

Anyway, mainly shot this one as another test. I got an add on for my windows movie maker that adds picture in picture (PIP) function to it. So I filmed this to see how it worked. The end product isn't to bad, but getting it to work was a pain in the butt. Not sure how many of these I'll be doing.

Enjoy.

Back to the metal. I've been on a bit of a classic rock kick lately, gotta get back to the metal. Bringin' it back with a bit of Pro Pain. Off their first album. A great one. I think my trip into classic rock shows a bit on this one. It's a bit rough in spots.

I had a request for this first thing this morning. I've known it for years, so, I got it worked back up and recorded in no time. Great Pro Pain song, not sure why I haven't recorded it before now.

Hope this helps. Enjoy.

Lord Tracy - Pirahna mymassive... - 1,266 views - 6 months ago
Second video of the night, told you it wasn't as serious as the Ministry tune.

Anyway, Lord Tracy was a little metal band from the late 80's whose main claim to fame is that the singer was the original singer for Pantera before Pantera blew up and became the Gods they were. This is just a simple riff, stupid song about a fish. Don't let this song ruin Lord Tracy for you though, their first album (Deaf Gods Of Babylon) was great. Look it up. They definitely don't take themselves to serious though. My playing on this isn't great, but it was kinda meant as a joke, so, it is what it is.

Enjoy

Ministry - Rio Grande Blood mymassive... - 229 views - 6 months ago
Got a couple videos for you tonight, the first is just a "little" bit political. I'll follow it up with a bit lighter fair in just a bit.

This is the title track to Ministry's last album. Very, very fast riff... crazy fast really. My pick is now useless having been ground down to nothing... Just a crazy tune, Al Jourgensen has definite issues with the current administration.

I was going to save this one up for inauguration day, but figured what the hell. See ya GWB

3rd and final video of the night. It's been awhile since I've done a Danzig tune. Another great tune with Glen trying to be evil... Love the first few Danzig albums.

Been playing guitar since I was 19, I am now over twice that old... you do the math. Through my twenties I was in a handful of bands, none of which did anything but make me realize I wasn't really cut out for being in a band. I love playing music, learning new songs, writing the occasional riff.

About Me: Current equipment:
Guitars:
Dean Evo - Great "cheap" guitar. Haven't had a single issue with it. I've had it for two years and it's still my #1. Love it.
Dean ML X or XP, depends on who you ask. It says ML X on the truss rod cover so that's what I call it. Whatever it's called it's another awesome, "cheap" Dean.
'86 Kramer Barretta. Had this guitar the longest, about 12 years. Great guitar but needs some work.
Jackson Randy Rhoads "V". Have it strung with heavy guage strings for low tuned songs. Don't play it a lot, needs some new volume pots.
Peavey Predator "dumpster dive" guitar. Great guitar, but since it's a single coil guitar it doesn't see a lot of action because most of the music I play requires the humbucker sound.

I DON'T PLAY A LOT OF LEADS

Acoustics:
Fender nylon string classical guitar
Lotus steel string

I DON'T PLAY A LOT OF LEADS

Bass:
Very old frankenstein bass. Sears & Roebuck nameplate on back. Pickups went bad years ago, replaced with pickups from destroyed violin "Beatle" bass. Not a bad bass for my limited skills.

I DON'T PLAY A LOT OF LEADS

Amps:
Fender Princeton Chorus 2X12 combo
Peavey 1X10 combo

Effects:
Digitech RP250 multi-effects pedal. Great pedal. Run this pedal in stereo to the two amps. Also run to the computer with a USB cable to record direct.

Oh yeah...
I DON'T PLAY A LOT OF LEADS

Mostly a rhythm player... you know, like Malcom Young, James Hetfield many, many others.

Recently came across a group of musicians on Youtube called the "Living Room Rock Gods", or LRRG for short. Great bunch of musicians, there's some serious talent over there. Basically what we are are musicians who post up vids of ourselves playing cover tunes (the occasional original too). Bunch of really cool stuff going on over there.
