Why not locate your kiln outside and not have any worries about the fumes you will be breathing inside? Either that or get a fan to pull the fumes up through your vent pipe...you can probably pick up a used stove hood for free or very cheap which would capture more of the fumes...otherwise I susp...

Why are you not placing this kiln outside, Simon? And the reduction takes place inside the studio as well? Seems very unhealthy, not to mention the risk of fire...I do like the kiln, though, very unique. Would like to know how your firing turned out. Thanks for the videos!

Simon, I admire your "flying by the seat of your pants" outlook on firing the kiln...in my case, I work extremely hard for 3-4 weeks to make, and glaze 275 mugs-when I fire I have my pyrometer, and cones 6, 8, 9, 10 and 11 is the guard cone. Too much at stake for me to just go for it and hope for...

Do you have a college or community college nearby? Sometimes there will be community education classes available. It is very rewarding to work with clay, go for it!

Brilliant camera angle combined with the mirror...beginning potters should study this video very closely, the technique the potter shows is not often seen in instructional videos. Nicely done!
