Try the following steps to resolve the error:
- Refresh your internet browser
- Download and install a new Internet browser and log in to YouTube again. We recommend Google Chrome.
Depending on your internet connection, it may take up to 1 minute to acquire the content license, during which you'll see a black player or spinner.
If your video won't start at all, please try the following troubleshooting steps:
- Refresh your Internet Browser
- Reinstall the latest version of Adobe Flash
- Disable hardware accelerated playback (re-enable if this doesn't work)
- Ensure your computer meets our Optimal System Requirements
This could also be an issue with your Internet domain. Some schools and businesses have Internet settings that make it difficult or impossible to stream rentals on YouTube. If you think this could be the case, make sure to contact the appropriate IT person to look into this.
If these steps don't resolve your problem, please fill in the information below and we'll investigate the issue.
If the video you were watching stopped and wouldn't play past a certain point, please try the following troubleshooting steps:
- Refresh your Internet Browser
- Ensure that your video rental didn't expire
- Clear your cache and cookies and refresh your browser again
If the video playback is choppy, try these steps to resolve your issue:
- Try adjusting the video resolution at the bottom-right corner of the video player. The video may become more fluid if you view it at a lower resolution.
- Try optimizing your Internet connection by closing as many other browsers, tabs, and applications as possible. While you may not have issues watching other YouTube videos with your Internet connection speed, YouTube Rentals and Live Streaming operate differently. Simply ensuring that the Live Event is the only thing playing on your computer may do the trick.
- If the video is still choppy, try refreshing your browser, and if you still have issues, re-load your browser completely.
- Lastly, you can improve your Internet connection speed by restarting your modem and/or router.

The Google Play Movies app is currently only available for select Android 3.2+ tablets and Android 2.2+ phones.
If you're unable to install the Google Play Movies app on your Android 2.2+ phone, please make sure that you have the newest version of Google Play on your phone. If you go to Google Play on your phone and see a Movies tab on the Google Play home screen, you should be able to download the Google Play Movies app to that device. If you don't see a Movies tab, don't fret - you should be able to update to the newest version of Google Play soon.
Note: If the Google Play Movies app came preinstalled on your device, you won't be able to uninstall and reinstall the app.
If you're having problems after getting the update to the newest version of Google Play and have already installed the Google Play Movies app, we recommend that you uninstall, then reinstall the app:
- Open Google Play
- Press Menu and touch My Apps
- Scroll down and select the Google Play Movies app
- Touch Uninstall
- After the app uninstalls, download and install it again.

If you're having trouble while streaming your video, we recommend that you download your video for offline viewing.
If you continue to experience issues, please try these steps, one at a time, and try to view your video after each step.- Restart your device
- Clear the cache of the Google Play Movies app
- Before clearing cache please unpin any movies that you have pinned for offline viewing.
- Go to My Apps > Settings > Applications > Manage applications > Google Play Movies.
- Press both Clear cache and Clear data.
- Uninstall / reinstall the Movies app
Note: If the Google Play Movies app came preinstalled on your device, you won't be able to uninstall and reinstall the app.
If your video starts and stops playing frequently, we recommend that you first download your video for offline viewing.
If you prefer to stream your video rather than download it for offline viewing, please try the following steps:
- Try a different internet connection. If you are on a Wi-Fi connection, switch to 3G or to a different Wi-Fi connection. If you are on a 3G connection, try a Wi-Fi connection.Please note that depending on your data plan, streaming or downloading your video when not connected to WiFi may result in additional data charges.
- If you're still encountering problems, please try restarting the Videos app and/or your device.
If your video playback is choppy, blurry, or pixelated, we recommend that you try downloading your video for offline viewing.
If you prefer to stream your video rather than download it for offline viewing, please try the following steps:
- Try a different internet connection. If you are on a Wi-Fi connection, switch to 3G or to a different Wi-Fi connection.
