Mostra Internacional do Filme Etnografico

The International Ethnographic Film Festival (Mostra Internacional do Filme Etnográfico) is a documentary film festival happening in Rio de Janeiro since 1993. Every year we renew the proposal of exhibiting whats new in the realm of the ethnographic documentary as well as classics of the genre both in national and international productions, to be able to bring a broad panel of films and videos, with debates, round tables discussions and seminars. Ethnographic films bring to the screen the diversity of cultures, helping us reflect upon the dynamics of social life in its here and now, through a privileged look into cultural entities, singularities of the culture of different peoples, in our globalized world. The Festival attempts to both inform and form, organizing workshops and debates besides the screenings, and bringing major names of the national and international visual anthropology and documentary film scene.
