A Glorious summer day and another video of the Great Western Railways 6024 'King Edward I'. Starting off with some shots outside the station, the first trains to be seen were:
11:39 FGW HST 43151 - 142 London Paddington - Penzance (19 Minutes late with small 2tone and one of the last Un-refurbished Buffet cars)
11:42 FGW HST 43194 - XXX Plymouth - London Paddington
11:44 'Torbay Express' Bristol Temple Meads - Kingswear 6024 'King Edward I' (I was quite surprised at the lack of enthusiasts on the station, only to find that they were all on the train! It was packed!!)
After the King had passed, I decided to hang around for a bit and sit in the sun whilst on the other platform a crowd of Exeter bound passengers gathered. Soon afterwards a very crowded 142068 came trundling in with the:
11:59 FGW Pacer 142068 Paignton - Exmouth
Not long after that I headed to the Dawlish Road bridge to film the repainting progress on the symbolic Eastcliff Bridge. So far 2 sections of the span have been painted in a strange dark blue with only 1 section left under wraps. The third section should be unveiled by the end of the month. Also whilst filming, an unidentified Cross-Country Voyager headed south at speed.
Later on, the weather was still brilliant for my filming of the return jorney of 'The King'. Today I decided to move to a different location down by the River Teign and Shaldon Bridge. The evening recording kicked off with:
17:59 XC Voyager 221XXX Manchester Picc. - Penzance
18:10 XC Voyager 220XXX Plymouth - Leeds
18:21 'Torbay Express'Kingswear - Bristol Temple Meads 6024 'King Edward I' (With Headcode added)

Platform 4 at Taunton again (sorry), and another signal check, but this time Wobbly Hand-Held Productions are out for the last remaining Valenta-engined New Measurement Train powercar, 43062, with a driver who found a few more power notches than might be considered entirely necessary. 43062 is now the only Valenta that visits the south west...I've missed that sound!
