Ludwig van Beethovens Marsch Nr. 1, häufig als Yorckscher Marsch bekannt, wurde 1813 nach dem preußischen General Johann David Ludwig Graf Yorck von Wartenburg, der 1812 für Preußen die Konvention von Tauroggen unterzeichnet hatte, benannt.
Dieser Akt gilt als Beginn der Befreiungskriege der deutschen Staaten gegen Napoleon. Da die preußischen Traditionen von jeher eine der wichtigen Traditionslinien der deutschen Streitkräfte bildeten, war und ist der Yorcksche Marsch einer der bedeutendsten Militärmärsche in Deutschland. So ist er auch der vorgeschriebene Einzugsmarsch für das Zeremoniell des Großen Zapfenstreichs.
