Ait Hamza, a tiny village in Morocco's Atlas Mountains received a grant from the United Nations Industrial Development Organization (UNIDO) to buy approximately 19 Harrisville-styled horizontal looms for their weaving cooperative.
I took a video of the looms before the women had a chance to fully unfurl them and begin weaving. Imagine having a room of looms like this one!

Khadija, the president of Tissage Ain Leuh's Weaving cooperative shows me how to wind the bobbins using an old bicycle wheel contraption. Not quite the Harrisville variety, but just as efficient!

There is a scenic way to get from Ain Leuh back to Azrou that leads you through a winding road high up in the Mountains. You pass by several douars, or small Amazigh villages, right through the cedar forests, and if you're lucky by the side of lounging Barbary Apes. On this ride, I stopped to take a panoramic video of the countryside as its beautiful green color will not last for long as the hot, scorching summer approaches.
