The first part of a video filmed at the East Lancs Railways Diesel Gala. The Gala took place over the weekend 3-5 July 2009. Many thanks to everybody at ELR for such a great event.

The 8th February saw British Railways Ivatt Tank 41241 and the Waggon and Maschinenbau diesel Railcar in service on The Keighley and Worth Valley Railway.
A short video filmed on 12th October 2008.Unfortunatly due to prior commitments I was only able to attend the Steam Gala for a short period of time, but for the time I was there the event was up to the Worth Valley's usual high standards.Along with resident Worth Valley Locomotives visitor S160 No. 5197 from The Churnet Valley Railway was very impressive.

As part of this year's Summer Steam Gala at the Keighley and Worth Valley Railway there was the added attraction of the Mainline Shuttles which ran between Keighley and Settle Junction. The steam locomotive was "Leander" hauling the outward runs and WCRC 37516 hauling the return journeys. The highlight of the day was the evening steam excursion from Keighley to Blea Moor with "Leander" taking the train over the Ribblehead viaduct. Expectations were high of the train crossing the viaduct in bright sunlight after a day of hot, sunny weather. Much to everyones disbelief, half an hour before the train arrived, the weather changed from bright sunshine to dark gloom. On the positive side, the wind kept at a lowish level and it was'nt raining.Despite the weather there was a great atmosphere as "Leander" came into view at the far end of the viaduct. I won't be winning any awards for my panning technique on what was my first attempt at filming a Ribblehead crossing. A combination of cold hands and my inexperience of doing long, slow pans is my excuse.I did manage to stay ahead of the engine though.

Last day of the ELR Summer Diesel Event 2009. Thanks to all the staff and volunteers at the East Lancashire Railway for putting on another superb three day event. As a word of warning to people who photograph or film around the Burrs cutting area be aware of a guy who regards the cutting as his own property. As I was filming on Sunday this person shouted to me to move from his field of view.He told me he was a working volunteer and that the Burrs cutting is his allocated area.He told me to move because he wanted the location I was in to take his photograph. When I refused saying that I was there first he threatened to have me removed from the railway. After a heated exchange he stood in front of me to block me filming anything and refused to move.Looking back now I'm glad he made this move because the situation was getting out of hand and it showed me how childish the guy was.I left the location shaking my head in disbelief at what had just happened. The guy looks to be in his fifties, tall, has a longish beard with a balding head.He was wearing red rimmed glasses and carried a long canvas shoulder bag.I sensed something funny about him as earlier that day I saw him climbing trees to take pictures high up on the cutting as well as him also earlier that day walking right past me ignoring me as I beckoned to say "Hi" to him. From my past experience of meeting staff or volunteers at the ELR I know they are a great bunch of people with the railways best interests at heart.I just see this selfish clown that hassled me as a rotten apple in the barrel.
