In the winter of 2001, The Princeton National Rowing Association (PNRA), formerly The Princeton International Regatta Association, created the Mercer Junior Rowing Club (MJRC) to increase the accessibility of rowing for high school students in the Mercer County NJ area and to take advantage of the FISA certified rowing course on Mercer Lake and the Finn M.W.Caspersen Olympic Rowing Training Site, which they share with the US National Team.
MJRC is open to all high school students in the Mercer County area whose schools do not have their own rowing teams. MJRC currently services 15 different high schools with several varsity and novice (beginner) boats, for both boys and girls. Since its inception, MJRC has benefited from enthusiastic support by students, parents, local rowing enthusiasts, and US National Team athlete-coaches.
