Tonight's flick is Butch's favorite rock opera of the 70s and what I believe a true b-flick midnight
movie should be! It's the Brain DePalma lightning-in-a-bottle classic: "The Phantom of the
Paradise"! It's got all the elements for pure midnight enjoyment: cult icons, great music,
gorgeous ladies and a super cool story of selling your soul for rock n' roll! We've also thrown on a
neat-o toy commercial from the golden-age age...sorta like a creepy crawlers for the car-set...with real molten metal to burn yourself with... then you can become the "Phantom of the Den"!

Tonight's flick is the ultra-bizarre kung-fu, chop-socky classic: The Crippled Masters! What happens when you don't please your master? Well if you're a student of this wily old bastard you leave minus a few essential body parts! 2 Students are crippled and learn to overcome their disabilities in order to take reap their terrible vengeance! It's a dichotomy of b-movie excellence! Is it cruel or just plain cool? Is it Chinese exploitation or just two really talented handicapped artists? Be on the look-out for some fancy martial arts moves that will blow your mind! And since finding retromercials involving crippled asians is a lot more difficult than it sounds...we just threw on a really strange and remarkably depressing Buddy-L attempt to cash in in the Transformers fad from our favorite decade...the 80s!

Well hello Krypt Kats! We're back with the 3rd part of our 5 part send off from Youtube.
But before we begin, I received some devilish advice from the "head" of the Cleaver household, Joan. She suggested that we go back through time (aka youtube archives) and re-name all our episodes something flip instead of leaving them actual movie titles. This would make it more difficult for lazy producers, cheap lawyers and the terminally unemployed from calling up a film's title and flagging it. They would have to watch/endure an episode to see the trailer and complain. She bets a lot of people are just too lazy and she might just be on to something. Look for title changes to the repository of Sub Atomics here at Youtube. :)

We also received quite a few suggestions to switch to vimeo. Anyone out there frequent it as well?

Enough noodling and scheming...it's time for tonight's feature which is the apocalypse of the 70s (no, it's not Xanadu, but good guess!) it's 1979's "Roller Boogie" starring Linda (crucifix up the woo woo) Blair and Richard Bray. It's cinema verite with actual footage of real deal so. cal. roller skaters and disco divas...oh and there is some tired story of the rich girl meets the poor boy and saves the day thrown in there as well. It's a time capsule of a more innocent time...a time of police whistle-ridden songs and questionable fashion and love...on wheels!
And speaking of innocent and questionable, we have a doozy r two for you in the retro-mercials section! Color Crazy Foam soap? In a robot dispenser? It's a bargain basement commercial with true fringe appeal...and we even threw in a a Charlies Angel spot to boot.

Tonight we're looking at a wonderful Hong Kong film from the blessed 80s called "Dead Target". A cute young martial artsist must travel to Thailand to retrieve one of the national treasures of China, but you didn't think it would be that easy, did you? It's full of amazing fight scenes, bright explosions, perverted jungle animals and beautiful Asian women. See a young girl kick major butt! See a desperate race through the dense rain forests and plains of Thailand! See an elephant de-pants a human.... seriously! We also threw in some old 70s commercials... one is totally weird-doh and then it's a redux of our favorites car toys of the 60s. Tonight marks the return of Meet Cleaver Theatre: Sub Atomic and while it's better explained in the actual video, we're on the edge of being banned from Youtube because of a remarkable series of content flags and claims against us that we're violating copyright (by FREELY promoting bands and movies). mom & pops places with the weirdest of the weird selection of horror flicks. Perhaps you ran across the colorful clam-shell box for tonight's feature and found yourself tempted by it's oddness... well if you passed it up, you dodged a bullet my good friends. Tonight's turgid little bit of fertilizer is the 1975 vision: "The
Gardener" aka "Seeds of Evil". Some you boys and girls will be excited to know that Andy Warhol's boy toy "Joe Dallesandro" is the
aforementioned gardener and spends much of his time running around half clad or 1/4 clad and sometimes he's as nature intended.
Katharine "snooty" Haughton is the female lead...so... meh on that as well. We try and make up for it by sharing two retromercials
featuring creepy characters you may have found in your gardens as well (note: no gnomes) A sad rendering of a mythological allegory of Persephone and Hades or just another excuse to show scantily clad late 60s New Yorkers? You decide.

Cleaver here and tonight we're taking a look at some of Japan's smaller monsters...they may not be smashing Tokyo, but they are having a big throw-down with a Babylonian vampire! It's one of the stranger series to emerge from the far east "Yokai Monsters"! Tonight's film gives you an understanding of where some of the weirder creations like Pokemon and Yu-gi-Oh might have come from as a band of disparate demons join ogether for fun, fighting and general freaking out. We also look into the wonderful world of Micro-Man (aka Micronauts) in our retromercial section. And finally we say goodbye to everyone's angel: Bettie Page. People have got to stop dying so we can get back to our surreal stingers! But in truth Betti will be one of those wonderful icons that will remain with us always...a remarkable feat indeed.

Cleaver here and tonight we're saying goodbye to a genre icon and an inspiration for generations of horror, sci-fi and fantasy fans/artists - Forrest J Ackerman, creator of "Famous Monsters of Filmland" magazine, originator of the term "sci-fi" and owner of one of the largest collections of memorabilia in the known universe. We chose a film tonight that's part sci-fi, part horror and all cheese (complete with plot-holes for you Swiss lovers). Chosen Survivors is a tale of a
really bad day that gets even worse when survivors of a nuclear holocaust are stuck 1700 stories under ground with a huge colony of angry vampire bats. Yikes!

Don made a ton of wonderful films and tonight we're celebrating the 1982 classic "Nightbeast"! He's an alien hunter with a taste for human flesh and just so happens to make a crash landing on Earth...what a happy accident! It stars the usual Dohler troupe, including our favorites Dick Dyzel and George Stover!
