Dense moss growing over a mound of clay dirt, sprinkled with small pieces of quartz. We stumbled upon this natural formation in the woods near our house. Upon poking the the mossy crust, we discovered larger pieces of quartz embedded in the clay. A breeding ground of sorts? (less info)
