It's weird. I never took one single drawing lesson in my life. I started doing B/W pencil portraits in my teens, then did nothing for 15 years! Now I picked it up again and started using color pencils. People tell me they are almost like photo's. They even dispute that I use color pencils. How can I advance so much with such a huge timegap??? It took only one drawing of practice to get a photo-like portrait. How is it possible to get it right at such short notice, I'm totally baffled about it. People around me say I should do 'something' with my drawing skills, but I'm scared that if I feel pressure to draw I lose my ability.

Matt, I've been having problems with applying detail. I try my best to use negative space to my best and to add little things here and there but all my work seems like a chaotic peace of crap and completely empty.

PLEASE HELP!!!
