In 1957, the Waterside Workers Federation Film Unit (WWFFU) produced a short comedy for the WWF, Fours A Crowd. Like previous films, it was made to counter hostile mainstream press attacks on the Federation, although in this case, it focused on the personal habits of rank and file, and was approached from a humorous view point. It was also known as individual work attitudes, and the films original title was One for All. Several retired wharfies interviewed for this history referred to it only as Nick-Away. Levy said that Fours A Crowd was a bit of a lark, but had a serious side to it. Wharfies all over the world have been recognised for their humour, and the spirit of sending up the enemy (within as well as without) can be seen in this production. Filmed and produced by Norma Disher, Jock Levy and Keith Gow. Posted by Jamie McMechan - Maritime Union of Australia - Film Unit.
