Antes mesmo de lançar um CD, Maria Rita foi a vencedora do Prêmio APCA de 2002 como Revelação do ano. Seu primeiro disco, "Maria Rita", lançado em setembro de 2003, vendeu mais de 1milhão de cópias em todo o mundo. O primeiro DVD, que traz o mesmo título e foi para as lojas na primeira semana de novembro daquele ano, chegou à marca de 150 mil cópias.

Em setembro de 2005, chegou às lojas o novo trabalho de Maria Rita, "Segundo". O primeiro single foi "Caminho das águas". Em setembro de 2007, Maria Rita lançou seu terceiro CD "Samba Meu", produzido por Leandro Sapucahy e co-produzido pela própria cantora. Em abril de 2008, a ABPD concedeu o Disco de Platina a "Samba Meu" pelas mais de 125 mil cópias vendidas do CD. O álbum também ganhou o prêmio de "melhor CD" no 15º Prêmio Multishow de Música Brasileira.

Even before launching a CD Maria Rita was the winner of APCA Award in 2002 as the Revelation of the Year. Her first CD, "Maria Rita", launched on September 2003, sold over de 1 (one) million copies around the world. The first DVD, with the same title that went out in the first week of November of the same year, sold 150 thousand copies.

In September 2005, the new Maria Rita CD was launched , the "Segundo". The first single was "Caminho das águas". On September 14 2007, Maria Rita launches her third CD "Samba Meu", produced by Leandro Sapucahy and co produced by herself.

In April of 2008, The ABPD (Brazilian Recording Industry Association) awarded the album "Samba Meu" with a Platinum Record for its over 125 thousand copies of the CD sold. The album also won the "Best CD" award at the 15th Mutishow Brazilian Music Awards.

Maria Rita released her "Samba Meu" DVD in September of 2008. Recorded live in Rio de Janeiro, the DVD was produced by Maria Rita, directed by Hugo Prata (Zulu Filmes), and features the entire concert, along with extras such as video clips of "Num Corpo Só" and "Não Deixe o Samba Morrer" (Both directed by Hugo Prata), a slideshow of Photos by Marcos Hermes, and a Making of.

With over 190 thousand "Samba Meu" CDs sold, in November, Maria Rita won her 3rd Grammy Latino for "Best Samba Album".
