Hi Moa,
No doubt quite a few Lonnie Donegan fans will be watching your videos with great pleasure so I thought I'd add a bit of nostalgia as a comment. The fellow playing guitar behind Lonnie was called Les Bennetts,. How do I know this? well he and I were at school together. The school was called Bisley School for Boys, Les and I were in the same class (sixth form) and were friendly rivals to see who could do the best in sports and academically. Dare I admit, Les had the edge Grrr? Oddly enough he showed no musical inclination at school and seeing as we both left in the summer of '55 it came as a huge surprise to see him on television a short year later playing so well for hugely popular skiffle group. Well done Les! I discovered via Wikipedia that he died young at age only 55 in 1995 - a great shame! |
