Multi-talented singer-songwriter; Makeida was born to a Greek mother and Nigerian father in London, England on October 16th 1987 and was raised along with her eleven brothers and sisters in East London. Born Makeida Ezekiel, she was named after the ancient African Queen of Sheba who was called Makeida.

When Makeida was a little girl she would sing along on her tape recorder to the like of Mariah Carey and Michael Jackson hits and would often fall asleep with the recorder in her hands. Music was always present in the twelve strong household, and Makeida would sing and dance around the house with her brothers and sisters to sounds from around the world, including music from the Beatles and the Jackson 5.

At a young age, Makeida would sing at the end of the garden and would close her eyes and visualise crowds glaring back at her as she sang songs passionately.

I was always an entertainer. I liked to make people smile and whenever we had family gatherings my parents would say things like; Makeida sing or Makeida do one of your dances says Makeida 22, who made a name for herself when she rapidly propelled into enormous success online via Music social network MySpace with her infectious R&B-Pop songs and confident, attention grabbing performances. Makeida has often been referred to as the UK Beyonce with a celebrity figure to match.

I think its a compliment. Though she is only years older; when I was growing up, I watched artists like Beyonce a lot and really respected their hard work, performance ethic and music. I remember telling myself there is the bar and now I have to not only meet the bar, but exceed it also says Makeida who has toured the US with R&B, Hip Hop artist such as Nelly, Flo Rida, T-Pain and TI.

A star is born; consider the artist; at aged 5 Makeida performed in part time stage school as a singer and a dancer. By age 10 Makeida was the lead singer during a string of stage performances. By age 14 Makeida entered several local and national competitions around the UK, and had won several competitions for singing and songwriting. At age 16, Makeida wrote a ballad called Run to You which was selected for the finals for the Eurovision Song Contest. At age 19, Makeida took MySpace by storm and today has 7.7 million fans and followers on MySpace, Facebook, Youtube and Twitter. At age 21, Makeida wrote, produced and self distributed her first debut album NEW DAY which won her a place on several gigs, tours and festivals around the world; supporting artist such as Akon, Nelly, T Pain, Shola Ama, T.I, Keyshia Cole, T-PAIN and West Life. Makeida's popularity soared to greater heights, when she recorded a female version to T Pains "She Got It" song, which went to no.3 in the MySpace Music charts and also earned Makeida a prominent place on T Pains US and UK Three Rings Tour. But most importantly Makeida scored loyalty and admiration from fans around the world.
