PART 4

AIR FLORIDA FLIGHT 90 CRASH INTO THE 14ST STREET BRIDGE/METRO TUNNEL CRASH IN BETWEEN THE FEDERAL TRIANGLE/SMITHSONIAN STATIONS WEDNESDAY JANUARY 13, 1982 16:07 HOURS

This is the Channel 1 Audio from the Washington DC Fire Department that day. Units had one hell of a time reaching the scene, because the Federal Government let out early due to a blizzard. All roads were filled with traffic. So are the radio airwaves as you will hear. Also there was a Third alarm fire the night before in the city that still held up some fire department units. Air Florida flight 90 crashed shortly after takeoff from National Airport onto the 14th Street Bridge. About 30 minutes later, there was a collision/derailment between two Metro subway cars in between the Federal Triangle and Smithsonian stations. One hell of a day. There were 74 deaths on the plane, and 3 deaths combined between the two cars. Sorry for the crappy audio but this tape is at least 15 years old. Theres also a lot of bleedover between channels.

at 16:07 A box alarm was sounded for a report of a plane crash at the 14th Street bridge (assignment):
E13 E7 E16 E2 T10 T3 B6 R1 R2 R3 FB FU FFD on Box 417

at 16:46 A Metro tunnel box was sounded for a collision/derailment between 2 metro cars(assignment):
E23 E3 T1 B2 R4 - Smithsonian Station
E1 E18 T2 B7 SW - Federal Triangle Station

Canada wins the olympic gold medal in the 4x100m relay at the 1996 Atlanta Games. Clearly the underdogs in this competition, the best Canada could have hoped for was to hand off to Bailey not too far behind the lead runner. I don't think anyone expected this.
