720p HD: Blender Array Modifier - Stereoscopy maLeFunKtion - 737 views - 4 months ago
My first attempt at a stereoscopic rendering from within Blender.

Stare at the animation. Squint/cross your eyes until a 3rd image is created between the two.

If you have trouble, try to vary the distance you sit away from the monitor/screen. ;)

------------------------------ -----

WHAT THIS MEANS

It means that YouTube are using older &fmt=18 settings to create 16:9 material.

Despite the presence of a "Watch In High Quality" link... it means that 480x270 16:9 material stretched to 640x360 during playback will look worse than the exact same video compressed in 4:3 (480x360) form!

4:3 HQ Static Image & Music Test 1 - FFmpeg x264 + AAC maLeFunKtion - 1,047 views - 8 months ago
Codec: FFmpeg x264 (Baseline@3.0 - No B-Frames or CABAC) (AVC/H264)
Bitrate: ~1000Kb/s
Resolution: 480x360 4:3 Square-Pixel Format
Framerate: 25fps
Running Time: 6:25
Audio: 320Kb/s 44.1Khz 16-Bit Stereo AAC (CBR)
Source Filesize: 66.3MB

------------------------------ -----

Video Stream is a single 480x360 JPG held static throughout the duration of the song.

Audio Stream is from a high-quality 16-bit 44.1Khz file (see attribution below).

Avanti GUI + FFmpeg 15625 was used to create the constant-bitrate x264 video with a 1000Kb/s bitrate limit.

MPEG Streamclip was used to create a constant-bitrate AAC 320Kb/s stereo 16-bit 44.1Khz audio file.

The raw x264 MP4 video stream was then muxed with the raw AAC audio stream into an MP4 container.

16:9 HQ Static Image & Music Test 1 - Apple MPEG-4 maLeFunKtion - 1,055 views - 9 months ago
Codec: Apple MPEG-4
Bitrate: ~1073Kb/s
Resolution: 854x480 16:9 Square-Pixel Format
Framerate: 24fps
Running Time: 4:33
Audio: 320Kb/s 44.1Khz 16-Bit Stereo MP3
Source Filesize: 45.6MB

------------------------------ -----

Notes:

Video is a single 854x480 JPG held static throughout the duration of the song.

The Apple MPEG-4 compressor maintained by itself and without manual intervention - an average bitrate near 1080Kb/s which was sufficient enough to generate a HQ version once uploaded.

HQ YouTube version is a single-track Mono 96Kb/s CBR 44.1Khz 16-Bit MP3 file.

HQ Stereo (&fmt=18) version is a Stereo 125-140Kb/s VBR 44.1Khz 16-Bit AAC file.

Avid HQ YouTube Guide: Part 2 maLeFunKtion - 1,097 views - 9 months ago
If you use H264, I now recommend that you DE-SELECT "B-Frames" as it appears to cause YouTube to take longer when reprocessing clips.

---------------------------
Details:

This is a guide for getting high quality material from an Avid timeline (Xpress Pro or Media Composer), into MPEG Streamclip, and then finally on to YouTube so that you can make use of their recent "High Quality" feature.

The guide has been split into two parts as it is 18-mins total in duration.

This YouTube version of the guide was not compressed using the guide's technique, but rather another method.
